Ha!!!!!! Well over a 46 game season we were officially the 4th best team in the league. And as you correctly say you can get away with it in a one-off game- which is precisely what happened against Derby in our 49th game… priceless Will give him the benefit of the doubt and hope that this does mean players who know the premier league but I also hope that he doesn’t rule out a Cresswell for example because he doesn’t know the premier league. Lets just hope we take FFP into account and learn that we need to make a profit on some players to thrive and not just sign on loans and short term contracts
But let's keep that sports psychologist on the books. "We will also speak exclusively with sports psychologist Steve Black, QPR's secret weapon who played a significant role in the club's successful play-off campaign! He has not conducted a single interview while with the club - we'll be hearing from him about exactly what went on behind-the-scenes as Rangers prepared for promotion glory!" http://mobile.qpr.co.uk/news/articl...omotion-special-live-on-thursday-1574126.aspx I see we also used one back in 1988/89 season. QPRâs experiment with sports psychology "QPRâs use of a sports psychologist, John Syer over a six week period during the 1988/89 season, and aimed to improve the effectiveness of both the coaching staff, led by manager Jim Smith and assistant Peter Shreeves, and players." http://www.worldsoccer.com/blogs/qprs-experiment-with-sports-psychology
Well, lets wait and see but if we sign Joe Cole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......................................................
Doesn't he just mean "players he's heard of" ? He'd never worked with Yun, Austin, Phillips, Morrison, Doyle, Dunne etc. This just means no more Diakite's
There's a lot of nit-picking regarding Harry again. When he says players he "knows", he clearly means players he's scouted, knows their history, has played against, has gotten reports on etc. How the hell could you expect him to make a team up entirely of players that have played for him before or that he knows personally? Some "The QPR way" clowns would want him to bring Tarratubby back in and make him Captain
We have no idea who Harry wants to sign so why don't we wait and see before we judge and start throwing out the same old hoary criticisms again and again. And if I hear the words 'young' and 'hungry' again I'm going to go ****ing mental. In actual fact I find its the older players who show far more hunger and appetite for the game than most prima donna youngsters. A lot of young players seem to think they've made it as soon as they sign professional terms but actually forget you have to work to become a success. I mean who here would question the hunger of these over 30 year olds? Clint Hill, Richard Dunne, Joey Barton, Gary O'Neill, Rob Green etc these f*uckers worked their arses off all season long. Young does not always equate to hungry. It's about character and not about age, some players don't reach their prime until their 30's. It's f*cking ridiculous to lable anyone over 30 as past it. Sports science is enabling players to play on much longer than in years gone by. We need a mix of youth and experience, it has and always will be the case.
I'm thinking that we need experienced players for survival, which must be the first instinct, combined with a splash of youth to build with. If the season moves along with a respectable standing in the PL ....................... the percentages of 'youth' players should be elevated to continue to build for the following season. To me, that is the only succession plan plausible.
Posted elsewhere on this. Looks like he's had an impact, but his influence will lessen over time as he runs through his menu of techniques.
Absolutely this. I think we'll see us (hopefully) getting a mix. Good ability, good character and fitness (our medical team deserve a bit if a rest!!!).
I would go so far as to say the very first game, if we recall the first game of each of our previous two PL seasons (ouch)
