    I used to make my own (by living) in the 60s, the old lady used to go mad when she had to patch them.

    Indeed. Some bright spark in the 80's might have realised that you can sell anything to dimwits if you tell them it's fashionable, but us oldies were way ahead of the times.
    Whatever next - someone claiming that football started in the early 90's?
