4 of them are out on loan anyway. Id like to see Whichelow before the season ends, he hasn't even played 1 game this season. And Id also prefer Britt to play instead of Garner.
Well we can all dream I guess but we are just not playing well enough I think to go on a run which would give us a shout. Would love to be proved wrong. Having said that our 98-99 run started after an abysmal 0-0 draw against Oxford I think. That 0-0 draw against Coventry last week was pretty woeful! ;-)
Troy Deeney said it in his interview after the match on Saturday, we can dream!! Whilst it is still mathematically possible we have to dream that we can make the top 6. We have to play Leeds, Cardiff, Hull and Boro all who are above us and have dropped points recently. If we take points off them then we keep closing the gap. When i spoke to him after the match Dyche also said that the pitch might look pretty good from in the stands, but at ground level it is horrific. So instead of being able to receive a pass with out looking down which allows you to spot another player and move the ball that much quicker, you are having to watch the ball to your feet and by which time someone has closed you down. I think this is one of the reasons we did so well and Derby and WH, the pitches there are much smoother than ours and we can see the type of football we want to play.
It's very exciting not having to look over your shoulder at this stage of the season. Its nice to dream about the playoffs but lets be honest if we got there it might turn into a nightmare, god forbid we actually got promoted! I would like a nice steady end to season and if we finish in teh top half I would be a very happy boy with the knowledge that we had exceeded all expectations.
i completely agree Hockdude, though i can't help dreaming..even though i don't think it's in our best interests! lol
Leeds, Hull, Cardiff, Brighton and Boro! All of them have great pitches and we will be able to play our football. I cant wait for them.
Two bits of good news on that front. The first is that no-one in all of football has done a better job keeping a relegated club on the right financial footing than Sir Graham Taylor. The second is that there should be a salary cap in place in the Championship for 2013-14 (it is very close to being finalised, but my sources tell me that some clubs will insist on time to bring their costs down naturally), meaning that the ownership, board and management will be forced to be moderately responsible whether they're minded to be or not.
I went to that game with my dad. What a rubbish ground Oxford used to have!! I recall we played in blue shirts and yellow shorts in that game too. And when we played them at home they had to wear our blue away kit as they only brought their yellow home kit with them " your not fit to wear the shirt " Good times, Vic Road end, Mooney, Robbo, Smart & Wright, Wembley, Sir Graham & Elton, Stevie Palmer starting in goal etc
I keep forgetting that we are at home on the last day lol. I keep thinking we are finishing away. In which case things got a lot harder!
"When i spoke to him after the match Dyche also said that the pitch might look pretty good from in the stands, but at ground level it is horrific." You can clearly see how bad the pitch is now on the tv highlights. It's 50% grass patches, 50% mud. Must be so frustrating to play on, for any team.
Yeah, its clear on the camera, but through your own eyes from the stand it looks 50% better. But as you say, its equally bad for both teams.
Exciting that the playoffs could be on and we've got something to really go for now ! Hat of to SD and all at the club ! Critics and dumb ass pundits should give us credit now, it is due.
