My only negative would be that a team like Leeds/Hull or Blackpool would probably take advantage of a 1st half like today more than Ipswich did but then they've all had iffy results.
The thing is, none of the teams between us and Brighton in 4th are finding any kind of form at the moment. We can always dream.
at least there is now a chance instead of playing for safety and then nothing. Now we havea decent change and games that will mean something !
On the 16th of February I said that we needed 10 wins and 2 or 3 draws to be in contention. Since then we've had 4 wins and 2 draws, which leaves us looking for 6 wins and possibly a draw from 7 games. More recently (10 games left) I said that 10 wins probably wouldn't be enough from that position, based on the points totals teams around the playoffs had at that stage. I'm happy to eat humble pie on that specific comment and concede that the playoffs were still theoretically within our hands at that stage, and still are now. 7 wins from 7 will get us there, I'm sure of it. Do I really believe we can do it? No. But it's a nice dream to have, and I'll be delighted if I'm eating more humble pie in 7 games time.
Not a chance in hell I'm afraid. But it's nice to get a good head of steam going at this point of the season. And if we could pass Cardiff I would be over the moon. It bodes well for next season though - assuming we can replace the likes of Mariappa, Kacaniklic and Kuszczak. AND keep hold of Murray of course. No small ask in that for Dyche.
I think we're clutching at straws, but the thought is a good one...interesting to watch the Football League show and notice that so many teams have 'their eye on the playoffs'..including us. Until it's not possible, there's no harm in dreaming
I mean it is highly unlikely but considering where we have been for most of the season, skirting above the relegation zone, we were one of the critics favourites for the drop and most of us would have gladly accepted 18th to 20th place. We can see the very much outside chance of getting into the play-offs like many other teams, let's just see where SD and the team can take us. We are safe and everything is looking rosy the future is bright, the future the future is Yellow SD and the backroom staff have a lot of work to do to hold onto the nucleus of our young team, I am already looking to where we can go next season but this season is not over just yet
I think some will be pessimists till the end. The fixtures are hard, but we're in amazing form..we have fight in our team. When you think about it, having so many play off rivals to play against in our position is possibly going to give us the best chance. It means that the power is in our hands...we can take 3 points off most of the teams above us. We're only 6 points off 6th place...so we really do have a chance. Do I think we'll do it? Well, I think we have a great chance. Too many Watford fans have ate humble pie this season, no point doubting this team further when you know that it's possible, and in this league anything is possible.
In amazing form? Even SD conceeds we were 2nd best overall yesterday. We have huge heart & fantastic work ethic and that has got us where we are....... along with the eventual inclusion of Murray since the Spurs match - that one change has made most of the difference and it's a pity it didn't happen sooner. It is true that having to play all the teams between us and the play-offs could be a help but with the worst goal difference out of everyone up there, that means we have to be even 1 point better which makes it even harder. I will trully be shocked but happy if it happens but I just can't see all of those teams losing to us.
I think we will get 6 points from our remaining games (1 win and 3 draws) and Id be fine with that given the teams we have to play. Lets not get ahead of ourselves fella's!! It will only lead to disappointment!!
From here, my minimum expectation is that when we play our strongest team we compete in every game (if we decide to play a number of relatively untried youngsters I'll take things as they come). My realistic hope is that we can finish in the top half and beat the 61 points we amassed last season. A hard taskmaster would demand that the team achieve the club's stated objective of finishing in the top 30 in English football (and not the "soft" option of ignoring Cardiff and Swansea). The dream is of course that we can get into the playoffs, but while dreams occasionally true, we're kidding ourselves if we think it's anything more than that.
Like you NNW as long as we play our strongest side and try every game I will be happy Yes bleed in the youngsters but not at the expense of any game, get as many points as we can get and take the momentum into next season! Yes the play-offs are possible but they are a pipe dream but one to hold onto and dream of
Winning games at the end of the season is important. The poor form at the end of last season added to the pre-season gloom in August.
That's not precisely what I said Al: I don't have an intrinsic problem with blooding youngsters for its own sake, but I agree that with the playoffs still possible we shouldn't go into that mode just yet. When we're not going heavy with kids I expect a full-blooded performance.
I think it is a big ask but I do like to look up the table and dream ! I guess it is a very outside sneaky chance, and like some of you mentioned playing those above us in the run in might work in our favour ! Fingers crossed, if not the team, management and all have done us proud this season ! YELLOWS !!!
NNW, I don't want to see too many kids yes give them game time but not at the expense of a performance! We should play as if we want to get into the Play-Offs 100% each and every game and let's just see where we end up at the end of the season!
