Kirchoff looking good before he went off, should he have been on the pitch for 90 minutes in the previous game I wonder, Catts was my man of the match, Zog and Lens below par, so far we have seen plenty of effort but not too much quality, over to you Ellis.
Borini was my man of match. he was everywhere, although it might have been more noticeable because of his hair. That Asoro certainly looks like he can throw himself against defenders. Doesn't have much fear and certainly has a lot of balance and strength considering his weight. Proper potential.
Borini MOTM for me. Very impressed who Asoro and how he copes with the physicality, very similar to Wamore in the way he can stay on his feet and battle for the ball. He's got a Kev Philips like leap for headers too. Signs are, despite being tiny he's going to be able to cope with the physical aspect imo. Could have a couple of growth spurts left in him too.
Borini plenty endeavour, struggling after that. Then watched man Utd second half tear apart galatasaray 5-2 before I was distracted, scary difference between 2 premiership sides, fellani with a great header amongst them
i watched about 15 mins of 2nd half. we looked bang average like. v. lightweight up top. lots to do...
Sunderland: Mannone, Jones (Larsson), T Robson, Kaboul (O'Shea), Kone, Cattermole (c) (E Robson), Kirchhoff (N'Zogbia), Lens (Asoro), Khazri (J Robson), Watmore (Gooch), Borini. How did Lens and Khazri look? Did Larsson play rb?
Larsson did play RB for a while. He moved into the midfield after one of the youngsters were brought on later in the match. The goal came from Mannone's left. Lens and Khazri didn't leave much of an impression. Borini and Watmore did most of the work. Cattermole's ball through to Borini for the goal was class.
Lens. Had hopes for him this season, built like a tank. Good to hear Catts played an important part, may need him this season.
Lars was steady at right back but the sub J Robson looked a prospect, and built like a tank. The other full back T Robson started as he finished the previous game a bit shaky but did improve as the game went on. The young striker Asoro looks a real livewire and tricky with it, he should be getting a few run outs as sub. before long, Lens was again disappointing, I am a fan of his, but he needs to show his early form of last season to keep his place, Khazri is also below par, but it is early doors for both as we have seen what they can do. Montpelier are a classy team and we did well to draw the game imo. But we will have to improve greatly on this showing to survive another season in the premiership.
