Monk has already set the tone "If your playing well , you wont be dropped. I like his stradagy , if it aint broke dont fix it. That being said Shelvey is firing hot and cold , so take him out for a bit . Now if you put Routledge in his position , you have room for Montero to get minutes and better .
Need to stop making a big deal about Hibbert's supposed lack of quality. Yes, he's not really up to it anymore, but he's not the first right back that Montero has roasted. As has been mentioned, his assist on Tuesday actually involved going past 3 players, he created our winner at United, and also, against either Burnley or West Brom, skinned a right back on the half way line, got to the box and set up Bony for what should have been a simple goal from 12 yards. Somehow Bony skied it. Barring injury, Montero will finish this season as our first choice starting winger IMO. However, I don't agree with the notion of playing the 3 wingers together. As has been mentioned, keeping one spare to come on with 20-30 minutes remaining is imperative. We have Gylfi and Emnes for the No.10, while Gomis can come on there and Shlevey/Ki can push up there too. That's enough options and versatility. We should always keep a fresh winger to run at defences. Pablo did ok at No.10 because, to be quite frank, he was slow as hell for a winger.
This is exactly what monk has set out to do when he took over, He said he wants competition in every position possible and he has nearly achieved that, We have players now that can replace players and it wont compromise the team and that is good as far as im concerned. All the squad are one team and every player will get his chance during the long season ahead. I for instance would not start with bony tomorrow as he has not been that good but i expect monk will start him and that's his choice as he knows more about the squad than i do and the same goes for our wingers,LB,RB Keeper, But what i find different about this season than previous seasons is whoever plays we still look like a team that can win games....
Oh no the L word Is there a matchday thread going up? Nice one on the Mackems board but some of them are horrible dicks it seems.
DM? LB? RB? I would argue we have good back up in all areas but very little competition - Tiandelli and Jazz could be considered as back up but as good as Jazz has shown he can be he's not competition for Rangel (although in my opinion he should be given the LB berth if he wants it). Goalkeeper? Many would argue Gery will never push Fab like he managed with Vorm (although he was very good v Everton). Fernandez & Ash are not being pressed by Amat and Bartley Leon is on his own, I thought Carroll would be good in that position but against Everton he showed he currently lacks physicality (good future ahead of him though) Gomis pushing Bony? Not sure about that unless we adapt to make the most of his different style when he plays. Competition is We have three wings for two positions (Emnes is he a wing or an attacking midfielder, or something between?) We have three quality midfield players (on their day) for three positions until Leon comes back and only then is there competition. Good squad especially as Jazz has proven his doubters wrong.
Seen all. But after paying zillions for an Argentinian international Amat is second choice. I don't agree but that's what happen. Fernandez does offer more on attack, but who knows how Amat could develop if he played regularly!
Listen hear you tart, any more of this Laudrop nonsense and I'll put you on that Camel to Qatar myself!................... Your taking far too many Liberties, think I might now call you Libby, instead of vetch!............. please log in to view this image
You are,of course,at liberty to do that. See what I did there? Re,the Great Dane. One day all will be revealed,Dragon, and you will find that you have backed the wrong camel. See what I did there?
He was on loan to Levante that season, and though the game in question saved Zaragoza from being relegated, the Levante Captain accused some of his defenders and keeper for not putting in a credible shift and throwing the game, at half time a heated situation in the dressing room that required the managers intervention is where the captain accused his defenders and keeper, I cannot see Monty as an on loan sub having anything to do with this, Levante was not his team!...............
