7 points above bottom 2 and a better goal difference so it's starting to look a lot better. Torquay look down!
Great performance from the lads today defence solid flair from Deano, also Max and Blooms although Max forgot his shooting boots If we can keep Deano fit and happy it top half for us
Really glad I chose to go today, we were excellent, especially 2nd half. We didn't deserve to be a goal down at half time, if anything we deserved to be a goal up. That said, we weren't playing brilliantly but we were doing enough to edge it I felt. Second half we looked a totally different team, everyone contributed something. The back 4 were exceptional, great communication with the odd bad ball; Kretzschmar and Scowen really impressed for me with their determination, whilst Morgan up front was the focus of all our play and was brilliant, deserved more than a single goal. McClure worked his socks off as well, always closing down and won a fair few headers, as well as linking up well with Morgan and Kretzschmar. All in all, a very pleasing performance, Gaz seemed delighted at the final whistle!
Totally agree with chairboy tom we played really well in patches. There goal long throw to Marlon Harewood chest its down shot goal. Hartlepool as far as I remember only had one other shot on target right at the end of the game. We were certainly a different side second half once we scored you could see the players were enjoying it. One fault where are the players out wide.
I agree with you Phil, we really needed someone playing down the left in the first half. Kretzschmar I thought did a good job in the second half, he's not a winger but his link up play with Morgan was excellent so arguably we didn't need one. We do however need to play an out and out winger when Morgan isn't on the pitch, he makes up for it in a create sense in the way that Craig and McClure can't, as they're more out and out strikers. Hopefully Dunne can return from injury soon so Wood can play on the wing again; either that or JPP needs to get fit and start on the left. Can't blame Ainsworth for having nobody on the right wing, Cowan Hall would've played there had he not gone off injured, whilst McCoy did a decent job as a wing back I thought.
Our next 4 games - York,Rochdale,Burton and Scunthorpe so it's just as well we've been picking up some points recently!
some games against top teams coming up, but we must be one of the form teams of the league at the moment so hopefully a couple of wins in there somewhere to basically cement our place in next years league 2
