Can't believe people are whining about Mrs Monk (well tbh I probably can on this site) totally out of order to involve his family, and well done to Monk for not going round to the cowardly little scumbag's home and kicking 9 bells out of him.

Who on earth would hand deliver a complaint letter to a football manager's house, must be a thicky.
I don't know where Mike Riley is meeting GM tomorrow, but the team usually fly to Liverpool from Cardiff on Friday afternoon before a Saturday game in scouseland, and Riley lives in Leeds.
I can't see that the meeting will do any good, the refs will always favour the bigger teams and be swayed by a vociferous home crowd, but someone has to make a stand. I'm surprised that the managers of the smaller clubs have not rallied around to get something done.
We're out of a major cup as a result of inept refereeing and dropping points right left and centre.

Agreed, Monty. A neighbour took it upon himself to hand deliver a letter of complaint about Monk's management. Foolhardy but not really throwing a brick through his window.

She seems to like making a fuss about nothing. If she's pissed off then speak to the neighbour, no need to blow it out of proportion.

Should have treated it with the contempt from where it came from and shoved the thing in the bin or back through his letter box with return to sender. :emoticon-0116-evilg

No law was broken but a line was most certainly crossed imo.

Hand delivering the letter made it personal. Posting the letter, not handing it to Monk made it cowardly. Posting the letter to Monks home, knowingly this would involve Monks partner, Lexy Blackwell; its her home too, made it malicious and vindictive.

Take into account too that their home was recently burgled, violated, just days after Gary's car was broken into and its only natural that Monks partner would be seriously p***** off and psychologically it would be understandable if Ms. Blackwell felt like someone has thrown a brick through her window. Its can't be a good feeling not to feel safe in your own home.

Venting her frustration on twitter hardly constitutes blowing anything out of proportion and reading her tweets I'd suggest she showed class and great restraint.

Odd all these things started to happen after GM became manager. Just a thought.

I disagree Stumpy. Having a letter posted through a letterbox that as far as I'm aware wasn't malicious in itself but simply criticised Monk's tenure as manager isn't the same as an openly abusive, nasty letter or a violation like a burglary or a vandalised car. It's nothing really, and more akin to a neighbourly spat that's been blown out of proportion. I can't see how a letter addressed to Monk can 'involve' his partner.

I agree that the way it was delivered was foolish and maybe as you say crossed a line, but deal with the neighbour privately - no need to trumpet it from the rooftops and make something out of it. I guess she's done it in retaliation. Silly really.

Nope, sorry DB but to do that does violate her home and does include her.

I'm sure you have a legal background so, say for arguments sake only, this was a court case. The prosecution would take less than 5 minutes to uphold the reasoning that the letter was delivered with malicious intent. As it was:

    A) incorrectly delivered, work not domestic therefore could be argued as 'intrusion'
    B) letter was purposely miss-delivered, as it was delivered by hand. Ergo the act of posting can and would be argued and proven as malicious with intent (all would depend on how the letter itself was addressed of course)

So my contention is that the letter was malicious and should be highlighted as so and her response was well within reason.

Dammit, just as things were getting interesting DB I got sign off, pesky kids. Sorry buddy <ok>

Ha ha. Been there done that got the t shirt and video.

Still don't agree. Whether her response was reasonable is a matter of opinion I guess, but complaining to a manager about his performance isn't malicious depending on the language used. Apparently, the wording wasn't malicious or you could prosecute it as a malicious communication.

Therefore the prosecution are on the back foot before you start. Was the act of posting it itself calculated to cause harrassment alarm or distress? If I was defending I'd say my client was foolish maybe, but as he lived only yards away it wasn't unreasonable to post it through the door - even if it was ill-advised.

Unless the wording of the letter was malicious I don't see any prosecution arising here myself but you never know with the CPS they tend to look for any way to push high profile cases.

    Off to the gym. <ok>
