Former Leeds United manager Garry Monk resigned because the club were keeping him out of big decisions to do with the future of side, according to Sky Sports.

The report claims that officials at Elland Road were leaving the 38-year-old out of discussions about transfers and future board members and this coupled with only offering a 12-month extension on his contract prompted him to quit.
I didn't realise the manager of the team had any input on future board members

I read this article on NN too, but couldn't find a mention on Sky Sports News anywhere. Puzzling.

Based on everything said over the last 72 hours, it appears Monk likes to throw his toys out if things don't go his way. Who the feck does he think he is.....Alex Ferguson or something. When and if he got us promoted, then you could say....ok, give the guy what he wants, not just on the back of a 7th placed finish where we threw it away at the end. We don't need someone with the emotional intelligence of a 13 year old managing the club. Good riddance.

I think it's the director of football, obviously has a problem with the club having a guy who makes the signings.
If I'm reading this right & understanding the club hierarchy correctly, then Monk is effectively wanting to appoint his own boss?

If so, isn't it a bit like the loonies running the asylum?

I'm reading it that he wants a director of football that he can't get his own way with, one that would sign the people Monk wants that would defeat the object of having one?

Bit of perspective please people. Monk has just delivered our best and most exciting season since the league 1 promotion. Whether he could replicate it next year or not is pure speculation, we'll never know as there won't be one. If he has cashed out whilst his stock is high who can blame him? We haven't exactly been the most loyal of employers over the past few years. That said he may have thought the same thing and bottled it for the money on offer now. I also think we will end up with a foreign coach as British based managers don't tend to like a Director of Football role. Whatever we decide I agree it needs to be done quickly so we can have a proper pre-season.

If the rumours are right boro offered to treble his wage and then Pearson offered his services for half what were offering Monk. A bit of a feck up all round.
