Well I don't want Monk being anywhere near our Manager next season, in my opinion if he is, then were heading downwards. That so long as we stay up this season. :)

So on that note I better not support the Swans and go glory hunting instead. :)

I thought you were guaranteeing a few months back when Monk was appointed caretaker coach, that Graeame Jones was nailed on for the job Dai?

There is no way on this earth that Monk will get the managers job next season, anyone with an ounce of footballing nous can see that. Jenkins is no fool he made the wrong decision in appointing Monk but will pug him out of his misery come the summer.

As I asked many times before ,why hasn't he been given the job full time now , if it's written in stone why delay the inevitable

So here is the big question ..... if it is true that Monk was one of the key people doing an end-run around Sousa and Laudrup to HJ, then if Monk is not the manager but a coach "forced" on the new manager ..... what's to stop him from pulling that **** again and screwing the new guy.

IMO, if the above is true and Monk is not the manager next season, he has to go. And I mean go! As in out the door, done, dusted, bye-bye. Otherwise the risk of a repeat is much too great.

Here's a different slant - Monk has been in charge for 9 Premier League games and has yet to lose a game by more than one goal.

So if he can mange to raise our performance level by 5 or 10%, so we convert those narrow defeats into draws and the draws into wins, we will be in a very healthy position :)

Innuendo ran amuk there Yankee , lot of ifs and buts there . Monk was thrown into this gig so its his to keep or lose now .If he goes over 40 poinrs I cant see him going anywhere , espesially if Huw wants to built a top Championship side in the summer on the cheap , that may even stay up another season or two . If ambition is on the decline next season , Monk will keep his current job.

Innuendo not run amok at all. I am merely drawing upon the constant chatter over player power.

The IFs were there to give Monk some benefit of the doubt. However, the question I posed is still valid and really its the second barrel of a two barrel problem / concern. The first: if you owned an organization, any organization, would you really want somebody in that organization that would work to undermine the key person you put in charge of a key part of it. The second: if that rot is not removed it will continue to fester and act again, undermining the next key person in that key role.

Now we're not talking about some proven, fully licensed, ultra experienced, stellar individual performer here, we're talking about someone that was a non-Prem journeyman center back currently struggling to walk his own talk having (if the noise, rumor, and "informed" opinion is to be believed) denigrated the person he took the place of instead of working within the system to correct what he perceived as wrong. And perceptions are not necessarily reality - and I'm sure I didn't get the memo about Monk suddenly becoming the mecca of all football wisdom.

Perhaps the memo was written by Monk himself and delivered privately to HJ.

He still has a few things to complete before he can get the job officially but he knows and the players know and the fans know if they listen that the job is his for next season. I dont see any problem with that at all as if you look at the big picture overall and look at the circumstances he was thrust into the job then you can see he has potential and he deserves to have a go, Lets be realistic here if he fails in the first quarter of the season then he will be replaced but we should not condemn the man before he has had a fair crack at the job on a level playing field. Some fan are being over critical of monk and expect him to win every game in the most difficult part of the season where everyone is fighting for points where we are down the bottom and to be fair he has shown some good qualities for an ex player in steadying the club on the field and off the field. I think that he should be given the chance from the start and see how it goes and not condemn the man before he has had a go from the beginning and not under the circumstances we were in when he was asked to take over where the job was at its most difficult. He deserves his chance just like martinez had with us where the same discussions were said about him when it was announced that he was to be the manager....We should back monk and see how he does next season...

Not taking sides here but the feeling I get from other fans at the Liberty is that they're a fair bunch and prepared to give any new manager a chance, paticularly someone like Monk who has been a fabulous servant for us. However, patience is wearing thin. Statistically, results are worse than under the latter days of Laudrup; we continue to blow hot and cold; his substitutions are questionable at best, appalling at worst; he's frozen out Pozuelo but has faith in Lita, I could go on.

It's not Monk's fault he's inexperienced, but he is. Talk about jobs for the boys, he should never have been offered it really but it's so typical of Swansea. Martinez was literally in an entirely different league when we took a punt on him but we're with the big boys now.

Imo when a manager has say 10+ games left in which to prove himself the better ones can and do. At the moment Monk shows some promise and will one day make a fine coach but his record so far tells me he's not ready for this job.
