With respect colk, I'd still rather retain our nuclear capabilities makes me feel more secure if nothing else.

I was brought up to be proud of the nation I live in and I certainly do not believe that we are just a hub as you put it. The UK still wields a huge amount of influence globally being 1 of the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council and a leading member of NATO and other world institutions. Nationhood obviously means nothing to you but the overwhelming majority of people in this country are still proud to be called British!

I'm not anti-british. I'm anti nationalism for sure.

The UK is in the position it's in because it created an empire. We places ourselves at the centre of the map. Now we still hold sway but when it comes to armed forces, economy, exports etc etc we aren't even close.

That's conjecture and guessing. I'm still seeing little in the way of fact based arguments from you 2.

that's very true colk, but for fact the green s leader couldn't answer a simple question about one of their leading manifesto promises.

can you tell me that is somebody who should be our leader?

I'll ask you, when was the last time the Tories had to explain where they are getting their money from for their policies (I guess it doesn't matter as they are just selling everything off as quickly as possible). When did Labour have to. The only reason the Greens were asked is because they are presenting a very different idea. They probably aren't 100% certain of where the money will come from. It's a big plan they are implementing and they aren't a member of the current ruling coalition so they don't know all the ins and outs. They are going to do the best they can by cutting as much from areas that really don't matter any more (Eg. armed forces, trident, etc.) and pushing it all into what they hope to achieve. Add that to getting all the tax that companies like Starbucks and Amazon have avoided, upping tax on the super rich and so on.

I'm not an economist. I don't know how they'll do it. All I know is they present real ideas for a better future and I'd rather vote for that than sticking with the same old parties that have let us get to this point of mass inequality and a distinct lack of education.

Also, the Greens don't really have a leader. They are a proper democratic party where everyone gets to vote on policies. Natalie Bennett is just the current face and that's not always going to be the case.

A very quick search on wiki says we are 6th. Not a major issue, just a minor gripe.

You had to ruin it by consulting bloody Wiki.<laugh>

The greens do have some good ideas but they don't have a chance of getting in, politics is nothing more than a pantomime, when the grinning Blaire was voted in I thought he would make a difference the same as the charismatic Obama .
But they all lie to get in then carry on starting wars and selling our people down the river.
Ukip are just tory but even further to the right the LibDems lost all credibility by rollling over and going back on all their promises and the reds are just a joke.

We will end up with Boris as PM soon, yet another socialite Eton educated Bullingdon Buffoon but at least it will be funny watching him on TV .

This is why I've been bringing it up so often. I'm hoping any push in the direction of the Greens, even if they just give some tory or Labour seats a scare, will at least make them think seriously about how they plan on moving forwards. Wishful thinking certainly but I'd probably break down and cry if I didn't keep the optimism up.

I do really hope that Greens do well because every vote for the Greens will be 1 less for Lsbour and the Lib Dems and a tight marginal the Tories will benefit big time!

    Are you sure?

There are plenty of libertarian-minded tories, those who Cameron aimed at with his ridiculous tree symbol, who might be tempted by the Green Party. Admittedly nowhere near the same as damage to Labour, but all the small parties as they gain stature attract support from the Left and the Right.

Assuming UKIP would only take votes from Tories is the error that Labour have uncovered up North.

As I was talking about earlier, only a fool votes on tribal lines these days. Each party is attracting votes from all across the country and from all backgrounds.

The problem for the Greens though is that outside of Brighton they do not have any strong power bases. The Greens will undoubtedly pickup many votes but they will be very thinly spread across constituencies meaning that it will be highly unlikely that their vote will translate into seats.
