    Just a couple of notes from my Windsor trip tonight;
    6.30 2yo Maiden.
    They looked a decent bunch in the preliminaries without any of them being outstanding. My paddock pick was Ralph Beckett’s PERFECT ALCHEMY and she ran a decent race despite being very green and wandering around over a furlong out. The real eyecatcher in the race was the Henry Candy trained VEILED INTRIGUE who was flying all too late after the penny had dropped. These two were some way behind the easy winner though and you wouldn’t risk too much on them next time out.

    8.00 3yo Maiden.
    APPARENTLY totally stood out in the paddock, you could almost see your face in his coat. In the race however he was beaten some way out and was very disappointing. I will be surprised if he isn’t better than this.
    The other eyecatcher in the paddock was the Charlie Hills filly ZIPP. She looked fit and lean and battle hardened as you would expect from a four race maiden. She travelled really well throughout the race and could be called the winner some way out.
    It will be interesting to see if anything decent comes out of this race but one that has gone in my notebook for a handicap is CAPE SAMBA. He isn’t a bad looking colt and I think he is almost certainly better than the mark he has earned thus far, He will be a decent punt from me when he goes handicapping.
    8.30 Amateur Riders Hcap
    What better way to get a horse a better handicap mark than put a hapless amateur on board. I am being harsh but neither ESTINAAD nor PARK LANE was given any chance whatsoever. Estinaad is better than this and I will be watching for it in a 10f hcap on decent ground. Par Lane is maybe more intrigueing as before tonight it had been contesting point to points. It will be interesting to see where this one turns up next.
