There's a lot of talk from people saying the optamists are wrong and if you don't like this opinion or that opinion then wake up.

Not directed at anyone in particular but just wanted to point out that there was a lot wrong yesterday and some will want to go down that route post opinions regarding the faults. There are also others who will just want to forget it and move on being more posative.

Both are entitled to their opinion and both may have good points. Were all in this together guys.

    Think happy thoughts.

well ok not rubbish precisely but not as cohesive or on top of things. we let stoke push us round a but and when they scored they sat back.

henderosn will be suffering from that terrible miss 9ala torres) so another bad game from him would not be so good.

You thought that game was bad, you should have seen my fantasy prem team!!!

In all seriousness though, Skrtel in the year we got 2nd against Boro should sum up why he should never, ever.....ever ever ever ever play RB. Anytime a player with pace attacks him he is toast down the side. For the first goal, Modric had no options to pass..... except a WIDE OPEN Bale on the left, with Skrtel somewhere in the middle, thus allowing the initial cross before the goal. He was horrendous and a big question mark on the management as why he played there ( I know not many options but like people said, Carra would have been better, he has at least played RB before!).

Suarez showed the dark side of that never-say-die, fiery attitude. While it has made him the great player that he is, it also houses the attitude of when things go wrong, the pouty, kicking the grass, holding your hands up starts to come out. Got to get that out of him.

Carroll, less said the better. People say give him a year but for me, he does not deserve his spot and until he starts to buck up his ideas in training and prem games, then Carling Cup and FA it is for him. Kuyt all day over him for the rest of the year if need be, really send a message to Carroll to let him know that you have not made it, it is time to get back to the grind that made you the player you were at Newcastle!

It was an awful day from the start but we have to give credit where it is due ( gritting teeth.....) Spurs played us off the park, tucked us in the Coach, and sent us on our way with a right f***ing Bollocking. We were bad, but they played some really electric stuff. Wolves is now a must-win game for me as Tottenham and Arsenal have slipped up early and we are, once again, not taking advantage of it. We need to get back to winning ways and really start to build a siege mentality that no matter where we are, home or away, we are the better team and play like it with 3 points always the aim.

If I was Kenny this week, the trainings would still be the short sided games and pass and move, but I would add things like " winner stays, you HAVE to win to stay on," things like that where if you don't want to be out there and you don't feel like giving your all, you will not get a sniff on any sort of playing time, very similar to the real deal.

Anyway rant over, again I believe in the team and Kenny, I think we could even see some shake ups on who plays ( Bellamy and Maxi to start for example on the weekend). At Wolves I would go

    Kuyt
    Downing Suarez Bellamy

This should liven things up, inject some pace, heck even replace Downing after that performance with maxi who could play as AM and move Suarez outwide. These are options we have that I think we do need to start looking at. Not saying shuffle the who team around, but after such a woeful performance, a shake up might be the best medicine.

Again, apologies for the rant, long weekend with moving, having TV and internet then not, and my academy teams played really poor.

11, 10, 9 men, spurs played you off the park from the very first kick. Even with 11 men all game I think Spurs would of scored 2 or 3 at least. Just an awful day for Liverpool. Reminded me of us going to Fulham a few years back and getting spanked. You just write off that day.

It is possible to turn a game around after a poor start and the sending off MAY have cost us that opportunity we will never know. You are right though we need to put it behind us and more importantly the players do.

Before we put it behind us (and more importantly) we need to learn from what happened. KK and SC need to look at their formations and the personnel to play them. The players need to have a long hard look at themselves. Too many did the very thing that is NOT acceptable for a Liverpool player - go missing

The one player who I would absolve from the major criticism would be Lucas who struggled manfully (mostly on his todd) to hold out a Spurs rampaging midfield. To a lesser degree Reina who had no hope with 3 of the goals. Surprisingly also Skirtl - he never was a RB and had little or no cover from Henderson whilst he faced 2 far faster players.

The last 2 games have brought into question the value of Adam. Sure he can hit 30-40yd balls, just as Alonso did. However defensively he's not in the same class as Alonso. It also appears that he has a problem with short passes. These failings call into question employing him as a deep lying play-maker. Before he was sent off we needed to have him 10 yds further up the field so that we could actually start playing. But Henderson had proved himself inept alongside Lucas and wasn't much better in his attempts to cover our RB.

Then we have the invisible man himself - Downing. If we were to grab a breakaway equaliser and/or take the pressure on the defence then he needed to provide crosses - which he didn't. Neither of Spurs full backs can be considered as the best in the Prem, yet both had the beating of him. When Adam was sent off we needed him to become our playmaker. Vary his tactics move and hold the ball in midfield to allow an attack to form but he didn't and faded so badly that he became annonymous.

Whilst Carroll did not do much, he never really recieved any service with which to work. I agree with the comments above and elsewhere that his ball control and agression are sadly lacking. Suarez just seemd to get more and more frustrated and I cannot blame him.

In defence. Agger showed himself once again to be made of glass. I can't really comment upon Coates as the defence was already a shambles by the time he came on. Enrique showed that his love of dribbling can cause as many problems as advantages.

As for Kenny, he needs to hold his hands up and say he got it wrong - because he did. Many have complained about his substitutions and the length of time he took to make them. One thing makes me hold back on that and that was the score before the 2nd sending-off. Even though we were very poor, at 1-0 there was still the possibility of snatching an equaliser - no matter how undeserved. However, after that it must have been clear to him that with only 9 men a heavy defeat was on the cards. Without another play-maker on the bench them he may as well have thrown on Kuyt and Bellamy and had 4 players positioned in their half to chase long balls - it may have been more effective.

All in all a bloody awful day! But the whole squad MUST learn from it before they move on. YNWA
