As Stick is not available I will do a little Windsor formscan for the evening to see if we can better the £7 deficit from my 7 £1 bets at Ayr this afternoon. I think there's a chance I'll improve on that
Will peruse the Windsor card now and look to find a placepot:
6.10 HENRY CANDY had Dinkum Diamond looking back near his best when an unlucky 5th at the Sandown Eclipse meeting and I think his improvement may be indicative of an improvement in the yards form. With that in mind,
Dream Catcher is an interesting little selection at around the 11/2 mark.
Silenzio looks nicely set with WTD's 5lb claim and actually has a good record on soft ground turf events. He can be the 2nd placepot pick in a tricky opener.
6.40 Hannon has two runners tonight in the Windsor maiden and it is interesting that the Hughes mount isn't a major gamble today- usually when they are really smart they go close to odds on. That to me suggests there may not be a great deal between THE ART OF RACING and DOMINATE. The latter is 10/1 and had a dam who was a very good juvenile in her first couple of starts, so I think tonight may be one of those evenings where Hughesy picks a wrong-un.
That said though, they will have to be smart to beat
King Dragon, who made a really nice debut, ran behind Dawn Approach when midfield at Ascot since, and sets a good solid standard.
7.10:
Fourth of June has been underestimated- won on soft on handicap debut, and his sire Amadeus Wolf had a fabulous little record on testing ground. I'd say he will be hard to peg back if given a ride from the front. It's too tricky a handicap to have one selection therefore the second vote goes to
Sir Mike, a Haafhd colt who ought to relish the ground and will stay better than all, having ran well over 10f LTO. They ought to have e/w claims if they avoid being outpaced early.
7.40: I think the Cecil favourite might struggle on a soft surface and I really like the look of a Dylan Thomas colt from the Hills yard in
Divea on debut. Prominent in the betting here and its not a maiden that will take a massive amount of winning. Sir Michael Stoutes horses always continue to keep gradually improving in their early career and I should think
Proximity will be there in the mix having handled this course and soft ground so well LTO.
8.10:
Macdillon jumps out at me today as interesting. Should be cherry-ripe now after 3 races this season and is reacquainted with Liam Keniry, who has a decent rapport with him. Is very nicely handicapped now and in a small field should have the chance to avoid being outpaced with no trailblazers able to get away on this ground. Stays 6f so a stiff 5 here looks ideal.
8.40: If we are fortunate to get to this stage still in with a shout,
Larkrise Star has shown potential for soft ground and indeed is the Hugh Taylor selection today.
Songburst is Kieran O'Neil's only ride of the evening and he has bounced back from dismal showings NTO before. He is a pound lower than his last win on the AW (good form) and if handling the ground, I think he is overlooked at each-way prices.
16 lines at 0.50 =£8 stake.
