Not much of interest on a typical Monday not helped by non-runners.

In the Nursery at Ripon I thought Straits Of Moyle was interesting. Not much promise in two last place finishes rated 35 and 50 on RPR but he was gelded after that and on his next start managed a 3rd behind a promising sort trained by Robert Cowell. That was ranked 68 by the Racing Post and was a good improvement on his previous efforts. Now rated 67 on official figures and entering handicap company he may have a chance and he has improved with each race despite starting from a very modest level. Stable form isn't the best at the moment but they run plenty of outsiders with little chance and did have a winner at Ayr today.

6.25 Ripon Straits Of Moyle 15/2
 
Straits Of Moyle ran an OK sort of race. He was in arrears early before starting a bit of a run but he could not sustain it. Just pipped for 4th. It was a rank outsider who won at 25/1 from a mark of 53. This was the shortest odds he has ever been, after starting at 150/1, 40/1, 100/1, 200/1 and 100/1 on his first five runs.

Incredible really.
