Call me mad, but 6:30 Constant looks an interesting horse and at 33/1 he looks overpriced.
Right, firstly his form is shocking, there is no doubt about that, but this is a horse who has clearly had issues and he is a horse who has a few upsides tomorrow.
1 - He gets Tudhope back in the saddle. The last time they paired up, he ran a 5 length 5th off a mark of 81! I think this jockey is most likely to get a tune out of this horse and for me he is a massive upgrade on Shane Gray, who nearly fell off when the stalls opened last time!!
2 - His handicap mark. Down to 61 here, and that should give him a better chance of being involved, this is a horse who was rated 85 at one point, and whilst his form hasn't been anywhere near good enough, the handicapper keeps taking chunks off, and if something clicks, then he surely could be feasibly treated.
3 - Blinkers are added for the first time. This could make him into a sharper individual, perhaps more resolute. Either that or he might completely hate them and regress further!!
4 - He has had a run this season. He didn't travel badly on his return, and nothing managed to pick up from the rear. He missed the start, when Gray nearly came off, and then was given an easy time when it was clear they were too far back and the pace wasn't going to collapse.
5 - The pace is potentially extreme here. This field looks set to be full of front runners and pace pushers. If the pace collapses, then he is one of the very few who should be coming from off the pace. This might give him an advantage.
