Morning

3.15 Cartmel-Tonto's Spirit

Each Way @ 5-1 [Bet 365]

Loves this place

First race at Southwell has the winners of two divisions of the race last years in it. Break The Silence has drifted markedly and is drawn between the pace and The Beekeeper is drawn wider.

Last year they both won from double figure stalls and I wonder if we will see something similar given there lack of racing on the surface recently.

The pace should come from Port Soif, Atalanta Queen and Rock In Society (with BTS and Tick The Boxes also likely to be prominent), but can anything lay up with the pace and attack down the middle?

The two id have against the field are course and distance winners Fly True and The Beekeeper.

Small stake race, because we don’t know about the kickback and where is best to be placed on the course.

Will replace with...

I take it Major Valentine doesn't respond to the whip or the female jockey judged that to perfection <badger>

3.45 Chepstow

The first two in the betting are skinny enough and hard to split. I decided to chance a newcomer in Hms President. Low cost but well enough bred the colt is entered in the Derby and although that is probably dreaming rather than hopeful he would not need to be a star to win in this company and at 16/1 he is a low cost interest in the race.

Hms President 16/1

I wonder what Codd thought he was doing there today. He had a decent position in a slowly run race and let the horse drift back to last place. Trying to come down the outside from last at Epsom is always difficult as the horse is going to hang on the camber.
Not saying he should have won but the tactics were poor. An amateur Ryan Moore<laugh>

hi fellas!

cartmel,4 25:

a decent field here, and none can be left out of calculations, but i think,ASOCKASTAR has it in him to go well again.hard to gauge, how much improvement is left in an 11 year old,but he seems to enjoy a new lease of life since joining this yard, and even a whopping 12 lbr might not be enough to stop him in his current form.so,big shout in an open race.

cartmel,5 00:

another competitive race, from top to bottom, but i think,BORUMA might go well here.isnt handicapped out of things today, and also quite consistent,so surely in with a decent shout..

downpatrick,5 10:

its been a while since EFFERNOCK LAD scored over fences, but his last hurdles win will have done his confidence very good, and enough solid runs over fences since..

in a weak race,CHOCOLAT NOIR is taken to notch another win today.she has,at least, won a race in recent times, and that ll do for me here.
