Just relaxing in Bryant Park, New York with an ice coffee killing time before flying back to UK this evening just in time for start of Punchy festival. Caught up with Racing Post earlier, well done to the big lad from Somerset in fending of the Irish raider for the trainer's champs.... just. I suspect he bought Mr Henderson a large GnT on Saturday evening for running SS. If only Willie and the fat cat banker had the balls to run Vautour in the correct race at Cheltenham, things could have been so different. Now I see he maybe going in the 2 miler at Punchy. Too versatile perhaps. Well done BOS on a fine pillar to post victory in 10TF comp and good effort Drever in chasing him home all be it from a respectfull distance.
A few just to add some interest to a Monday evening. Ayr 5.55 New Abbey Angel 6-4 Looks to be ahead of the handicapper and i would expect this to win well Windsor 6.30 Magnum 7-4 Brian Meehan isn't the most reliable of trainers but if this horse is fit he should take this as the form of his length second to Midterm who is now second favourite for the Derby is well above anything else in the field. There are some interesting newcomers but the old cliché certainly applies in that 'it will take a good one to beat it'. 7.00 Dutch Uncle 7-2 This horse has been fancied and run well in a couple of all weather races lately but I think the turf will suit better and expect his fitness to give him the edge over Wheetles.
Chelmsford 5.00 Schoolboy Error Got a poor hold up ride last week but could well take this if given a chance today. A reverse forecast with Simply clever as well as this looks the main danger.
Shout again and forecast landed aswell. Mine ****ing fell on the all weather says everything you need to know about my luck!
Cheers Badger - your selection Topalova actually toppled over, how unlucky is that on the flat? and what prophetic naming of a horse. Glad to see him running post the post riderless however so looks to be no harm done.
I'm very hopeful that the return to 6 furlongs can see Master Speaker 7/2 land the 5.40 at Naas. He should be ripe for this having been unlucky his last 2 starts, just not getting a run early enough when losing out to the re opposing Mr.Right who Master Speaker is 2 lbs better off with today and also caught the eye when finishing well on the AW at Dundalk last week. Smullen can land him on the line in time this evening.
Let's try another Haymarket 6/1 here at Ayr. Also again chucking my money at Bubbly Bellini 20/1 in the 5:40 Naas love this horse
Frustrating again for Master Speaker. Ran credible without ever threatening and he's becoming ever difficult to win with now. Time to dodge the dodge pot!
