Have you spoken to him? Would be a fair old statement if he picked a maiden winner over the Beresford winner, and would be the wrong decision in my opinion, maybe soft ground could come into his thinking but I know what one id be sitting on.
3.40 Exeter Marleno 20/1 is my NAP tomorrow. Write up to come later on tonight but I think this could prove popular in the betting.
I will be very surprised if he isn't on Kingsbarns come Saturday . Battle Of Marengo my god I am a Ballydolye fan but if that boat is going to be winning Group 1 races over 1m I give up
This isnt going to a nice stroll in the park bridle job this year, Battle Of Marengo looks the right kind of tough horse with a bit of class who would be ready for a battle with the likes of Steeler and Trading Leather, I know they arent the most electric of horses but they are 1m4 types for next year and their experience could come out on top, according the JOB he was absolutely clueless 12 days ago, he might well turn out to be the classiest horse in the race but its a big ask to go from a nice gallop in a poor maiden to what could potentially be an all out war with some of the best and toughest 2yos in Britain and Ireland in the space of 2 weeks. If he was able to overcome the inexperience and beat this field comfortably then we could be looking at a serious horse but on what I have to go on I cant be having him. The ground may be shocking and the race might cut up, im not sure Bolger would run on right soft ground, if thats the case then I will have to rethink but thats my position as it stands just now.
Nothing to aplogise about Stick as it's what we do on here, we put something up that we think looks good and everyone else can decide if it does indeed look good for themselves. I don't think anyone on here follows blindly and you had indeed spotted an excellent value bet as i was feeling very happy before the off having 18-1 on an 11-2 shot so many people agreed with your thinking. They don't always run as we hope sadly which is why the battle between ourselves and the bookies continues, were it an exact science our old enemy would have long since dissappeared i guess. As Dexter said you are still very much in the black on this forum so your view of a race will always be of interest.
haul, if anyone knows a slow animal its The Master of Glesga, Trading Leather aint slow, Steeler is a slow animal, but hes tough.
Trading Leather got put in his place by BOM fair enough it was his first run. But BOM is a very slow animal PLODDER
Beat me to the puch here ROTO, this was going to be my headline for the thread tomorrow. Went in the Stick notebook on its seasonal debut when given a very soft ride. Its well handicapped and 14-1 is a very fair price for him.
A Racing Post trophy with a lot of types who lack speed- at least that leaves us with a wide open Derby market and potentially a nice big field. Battle of Marengo looks slow to me- better than a David Livingston but not looking a Derby winning type to me. Has Stoute put Telescope away for the season?
Yeah its really surprising, because its normally sprinters than run in the Racing Post Trading Leather ran the mile at Newmarket on slowish ground in 1.37.83, if thats a slow middle distance horse then we are in trouble. Battle Of Marengo ran a mile at Leopardstown in 1.38.68, anything but slow for a 2yo with a middle distance pedigree. Considering this forum has been raving about that plodder Imperial Monarch all year, I dont think you know a slow horse when you see one.
Bettings up Battle Of Marengo as short as 7/4, 9/4 and 5/2 generally which was the price I expected. 9/2 about Trading Leather, I didnt think he would be bigger than 3/1 tbh, priced up as if he wont run with Coral and bit risky antepost, between 5/2 and 7/2 elsewhere which looks about right. Kingsbarns 6/1 best price, short enough, never mind the 3/1 in a place. So JOB will be ignoring the 9/4 fav to ride the 6/1 shot? Cant see it tbh. If Trading Leather turns up that 9/2 would look enormous, 3/1 Battle Of Marengo with Corals is also a very fair price.
