ive not got the software to run this but in the early days it was second run after surgery that was the betting angle. Be interesting to see the numbers now.

I don't have any stats to back this up but I have spoken to a couple of trainers about this and they seem convinced it eeks out some improvement. It also seems to be the view that 2nd run after a wind op is usually best time to catch them. :emoticon-0148-yes:

AOB with 11 of 12 entries in the Racing Post Trophy (or whatever they call it now). That’s just plain ridiculous.

Standing joke with Nicholls runners as they all seem to get the surgery every year whether they need it or not!

The second run after surgery is quite often the one and there is a good reason for that. Horses have the surgery because whatever is blocking the airway causes them pain. This only really happens when they are flat out at the business end of a race. Thus horses associate being flat out with the pain and hold a bit back. First run after surgery and they have no pain so second time they put it all in. Really is a simple logic but trainers truly believe it.

    afternoon,fellas!

    plumpton,3 40:

this looks quite a hot race on paper, for so early in the season, and there are a few promising types in it.SAMARQUAND,though, can go well fresh, which is a big plus, and hes been keeping good novice company over hurdles last season.interesting, that connections dont waste too much time to go over fences with him.the only slight negative is the yards form at present, but im sure, that will change soon enough.

Two horrid falls at Plumpton in that novice handicap chase. Hopefully both are ok.

    plumpton,5 10:

luck of the legion is the obvious starting point here, and is well respected in her current form, but the two negatives are,her mark has shot up massively, and maybe even more worrying, she has no form on soft or heavy.i think, this wont take much winning, and it represents a good opportunity for long standing maiden JONJOELA,who, with her plating mark, and with a new (in-form!)yard,she can go well here..

Little bit unlucky there mine I thought. Bit short of room when making a move just over a furlong out and think it proved costly. 14/1 3rd. Not bad but no good for me today
