Afraid Doyannie was just not in the mood today, you could see that right from the start. Naughty girl, wasn't a bit interested. Never mind. In the finale at Wincanton (17:40) I give a chance to Tim Vaughan's Twilight Glory, in the hope that this Fame And Glory gelding will do better on the faster going. Alan Johns rides for the yard. 8/1 is the generally-available best price at time of writing. E/W best option.
I say, old boy, that's a bit harsh!!! That win must have greatly increased the old girls worth incidentally. Now a winner over hurdles and a half-sister to Monkfish. Borderline blue blood. Although where they go from here, on the track, must be very difficult to calculate. Especially as in similar contests Fishcake will have to carry a penalty. What about that monumental price drift though, team?!? 2 hours before 'tapes up' Fishcake was 11/10 (Even money in a couple of places) and she returns 100/30!!!
Another bumper winner I haven't seen much said on here about was The Lieutenant's Luccia. How brilliant was she at Sandown Park just prior to the Festival??? Surely, that other Aintree bumper is hers for the taking??? Is apparently being aimed at it. After that though if she was mine (I'm not the 11th richest man in Wales) I wouldn't, incidentally, put Luccia anywhere near a flight of hurdles. Has a very Flat pedigree (dam was a Listed winner on the level) and surely she should be given the chance of reaching a similar standard (or even higher) before hurdling is even considered.
