Punchestown and the final chance to qualify for the Pertemps Final at the Festival. I have backed DALLAS DES PICTONS at 33/1 and I note with great interest that he (Elliott) is putting up a 7lb claimer. Looks like he is taking no chances regarding qualification but what will the riding instructions be for tomorrows race. I shall be watching with interest.

I think Elliot will be happy to get him in the final off his current 138. So expect him to be held up way out the back, start moving forward half a mile from home and finish a never nearer 4th or 5th. Tough ask for the claimer, more plots than an Agatha Christie novel with a last throw of the dice for the final.

These from the Punchestown race are entered in the final:

Dallas Des Pictons
Dalton Highway
Flash De Touzaine
Gabbys Cross
Lynwood Gold
Milliner
Some Neck

One of them is going to be disappointed.

Thats my feeling too mate. Money early doors for the other runner for the same connections that is not Cheltenham bound so could very well fill one of the prominent spots (Milliner 17/2)

I think they'll be really trying with Some Neck, probably needs to go up a few pounds to get in?

He is a very good young claimer.placed on his 2 rides today (Sunday) and rode a winner on Saturday

Morning

4.20 Wolverhampton-Pivotal Decision

Each Way @ 6-1 [Bet 365]

Got a poor ride last time which contributed to trainer cutting ties with the jockey, expect much better now

Nothing to do with today’s racing. Nor is it particularly recent. I see though that another of those Lieutenant awards has been handed out (our beloved Nicky got one a few terms back, of course). This time to Sir Michael Oswald. This type, incidentally, has the job title, and I quote, ‘The Queen’s NH adviser’. In this instance, by the way, I’m pretty sure that NH stands for National Hunt rather than Nicky Henderson – not 100% certain though.

But this leads to a multitude of questions, team. Why haven’t I got one??? Why haven’t you got one??? How bitter are you that you haven’t got one??? And who next in racing will be made a Lieutenant??? Answers on a postcard, please, to the usual address…

I do have one - a NH adviser that is. He’s useless and only looks at bumper races and he doesn’t get paid.
