Delighted for Our Duke. Vindicated the decision to avoid Cheltenham this year and they've felt he's a proper GC horse for a while now. Definitely is based on that effort. Well done all involved and Robbie Power can't do much wrong at the moment.
Nice shout Stick! Well done puppy power! Had the second and third but there was no catching Our Duke.I know the owners are sweet on L'adana in the last-It will take a good one to beat Samcro but worth taking on.
Our Duke had it won after 10 furlongs barring accidents. He will be even better back a few furlongs and that GC trip is the one he wants. Still smiling over that and I had nothing riding on it That was as good an effort as I've seen in a long while.
Geraghty fractured arm going to rule him out of the Punchestown festival not long after he was forced out of Cheltenham injured. Tough luck.
Samcro wins easily. I was impressed with the 2nd horse Cluan Dara. His form to date isn't up to much but the better ground today helped and the way he travelled suggests he will certainly be ok over a staying trip, he just didn't have the gears for today. He is a Scorpion though, so I must keep that in mind.
Seen two absolute future stars today. Our Duke was frankly ridiculously good doing what he done as a novice on only his fourth chase start. Was just so good every step of the way and what a hand Mrs Harrington has in next season's Gold Cup! Robbie Power will have some decision to make if those two stay fit. Samcro showing himself to be a monster in the bumper, to think what Elliott's mare Fayonagh done to them in the Champion Bumper with this lad sitting back in the yard
Mullin's wins 2 including a Grade 2, Elliott wins the bumper but goes home with twice as much dosh as his rival courtesy of a 2nd and 4th in a handicap. Our Duke very impressive.
