Bob I'd put all the Ulzana's Raid money on Jane Mangan there - very easy and I've taken it to the bank
Stick Jans Boy in the tracker. I don't know how to describe the style of the jockey but I'd imagine someone with ability will get that to win a low quality race soon.
2 things about the Wincanton bumper tomorrow - firstly Flying Quest is owned by a Mr David Cocks and secondly the living legend D R C Elsworth runs a Teofilo gelding ridden by Brendan Powell - interesting. Very interesting. Oh and the Crawfords are sending one to Sedgefield for their bumper. Could make a nice "Barney Rubble" or even a treble with Mr Henderson's in the Southwell bumper. Chuck in Fairyinthewind in the opener at Wincanton and you have a nice little yankee. In the 4.50 Wincanton Master Medic looks nailed on so there's a Canadian. Job done.
From Declan McNamara after Mossey Joe's success. “We’ll step him up in class now and we might bring him to Stratford to take on Salsify. "The Galway Plate and the Kerry National are also on the agenda. He will be better on better ground and hopefully the handicapper won’t inconvenience him too much for winning hunter chases. "It’s the first time he ever settled today and he is a lot more relaxed at home recently. He has seen sense at last! Chuffed to hear that. Mossey deserves a crack at the big time again.
just a note of caution --weather looking like some heavy rain over south west all day--wincanton may get a heavy going , chepstow in the eve likewise--not sure for southwell--sedgfield looks ok,beverley as well--gonna look for some mudlarks ..........
Is rain forecast for York before Wednesday? Will be having a sizable bet on Maarek if it comes up soft.
Were you on Maarek on his reappearance ROTO? He's a class act ain't he, especially with soft ground, kinda have a soft spot for him much in the way I love Sole Power who love's concrete ground.
I wasn't actually. He's definitely my favourite horse in training and I am just delighted to see him win even if I don't have any money on him. David Peter Nagle had said he'd come on a lot for the run and I think he's better over 6f so I left him be. To my surprise (and it seemed to surprise connections) he was still much too good for the field and the runner up has gone on to win a Listed race at Nottingham at the weekend to frank the form. Judged on his Naas win, I think he's improved again from last season and I was surprised to see him travel with such ease given that he's normally a horse who comes with a long persistent challenge as opposed to quick burst of speed. On that running, he looks set to have another wonderful season and I'm confident he can pick up a Group 1 this year along the way if he gets his ground.
Raining off and on today ROTO. I'm 25 mins from the track. It will definitely be on the slower side of good if it's similar to Monday on Tuesday.
