4.15 is an interesting little race, with two runners who are improving for a switch of yards, the first being Angel Cake and the latter my selection Powerful Pierre.
Angel Cake has had a fair hike in the weights for winning her last two runs. Running now off a mark of 66 (59 last time) and that may be able to stop her here.
Powerful Pierre switched from the disgraced McInnes yard to that of talented Ollie Pears, and has started to show improvements in form.
He ran a taking race last time out for Shane Kelly (not a fan) and today gets a step up in trip and Jimmy Quinn to steer (also not a fan).
He is fairly treated and I think he is about to come to the boil. A fair bet at 3/1

Good luck to VIVERE in tbe first at Ayr today. Running for an ex 606er who never failed to keep us amused. I hope she runs a belter mate.
Eye catching breeding and not a bad standard of race. Even if she only pops in to the winner's enclosure once she'll have some value in the sheds. Well done Brizy and hope it goes well from here.

Another inept ride by Spencer at Wolverhampton. Riding a horse that has won last time out on turf over a mile he actively fights the horse to stop it taking a position over 7f so he can assume his favourite position right at the back. He does not recognise however that this is Wolverhampton and that they are going no pace up front. It is not possible to say if the horse could have been more dangerous ridden differently but it seems clear Jamie Spencer hindered it's chance rather than helping. Someone actually pays him a retainer as well.
In typical Spencer fashion I watched him ride a brilliant race last week but why does he make such obviously poor tactical decisions.

Fantastic - Spencer just rode exactly the same race again with exactly the same result.
fought the horse to drag him to last travelled well and then realised would have to come around the outside to finish well, to make it better Jamie gave up when he saw the winner had gone (rightly so), but will never in a million years connect the two things of the winner having gone and him have given him ten lengths until the final two furlongs.
The commentators keep noting it as well with Jamie Spencer but he will still get rides tomorrow.
The owner who retains him has two running this evening, one will be ridden by Jim Crowley and one Harry Bentley and I am sure they will be given more chance than the two he rode at Wolverhampton. I have actually backed the first time up ridden by Jim Crowley at Thirsk as 8-1 looked decent enough in an open race.

To bring some positivity back regarding jockeys - What a great ride Thomas Brown gave the Balding horse in the first at Windsor, he and Osien Murphy look to be two jockeys with a future. Murphy incidentally rides Prospero for Ralph Beckett tonight in the last at Thirsk, not a great price but should win.
