I've just checked on Google etc. The Sat Nav navigation systems in Dublin are all sorted out now. You can trust them and follow their instructions.
That's a shame. This is a little stereotypical but I've always found asking nearly anyone over 60 for directions in Ireland one of the most entertaining things you can do there. I love the assumption that you know the names, occupations and life stories of anyone within a 20 mile radius, and that these somehow act as landmarks.I've just checked on Google etc. The Sat Nav navigation systems in Dublin are all sorted out now. My Dutch neighbour has given up on asking directions from the locals, mainly because at least once during the list of instructions he has to follow he is told to go "half way" down a particular road and then turn right or left as the case may be.
"How can I go half way down a road I have never been on before?"
Easy, go the whole way and then come back halfway, just to be sure.
Why would you turn left or right at a pub? Straight in is the best way.
Best one I heard was "Well I wouldn't start from here if I was you"
