Newton I can understand where you're coming from, but surely you can understand that MoN was given £30m to spend, which is more than enough to get as way away from the relegation zone. This is something that could be excused had we been playing well and actually looking dangerous. But we didn't. We were absolute ****, completely devoid of ideas going forward.

I think he would have kept us up but so will Di Canio and we can now look to progress
 
No difference. Bringing on Colback when chasing a game was a massive mistake MON did and PDC follows suit!

Newton I don't understand where you're coming from.

Almost all Sunderland fans wanted O'Neill to succeed and from the outset he looked to me, and most others, as the perfect man for the job. He started well and despite signs of poor football at the back-end of last year I think most mags would admit we were more concerned about Sunderland than we had been under Bruce.

However, you surely can't argue with the fact that Sunderland have been in freefall since just before christmas (and you weren't exactly amazing before that either!). Newcastle have also been rubbish and if it wasn't for a great season last year and the excuse of Europe this year then i think Pardew could have been out. Stability is best for long-term success but you can't simply ignore the short-term.

Do I think O'Neill would have kept you up? Yes. But i don't go to see Sunderland and most fans who do seem to think it was time to cash your chips in as you were heading down, you are very much in the minority on this one. Just get behind the new manager and pray for success.

Finally, I really can't see us (Newcastle) tearing you apart on Sunday. You can't have seen much of us this season... we might win but its far from a foregone conclusion.

2 things killed MONs chance of succeedin here:

1. Robertson not being here
2. He had no confidence in the players, and they knew it (see MONs comments about DNA of the squad)
 
Calling it from an outside perspective, O'neill only has one man to blame and that's himself...He claims the players aren't good enough, he also points to the fact he helped keep Sunderland up last season - so which players did you use to do that? The same ones...Right...

Another thing that got me about his comments, was his belief that only Johnson and Fletcher were 'money signings' - I'm sorry but that perfectly reflects his attitude towards the current market. Danny Graham cost you £5m, how is that not considered a 'money signing', all of these players have been signed for £5m or less Cabaye, Tiote, Debuchy, Gouffran, Sissoko, Santon and Ben Arfa, Michu, Addebayor, Piennar, Mirallas and Berbatov...

MON wasnt astute in his signings, Fletcher proved me wrong and someone on here said AJ has your highest assist's, but you've paid a lot of money for them, money that could potentially have been shared around 3 or 4 players!
 
If he was still here MON would have my support. But the simple fact is..........he was taking us down.....no two ways about it. We were so poor I was counting completed passes on one hand. PDC has more passion in his little finger than MON has in his whole body (and MON has a lot) you can see from just a few days PDC will not allow the club and the players to fail. What a difference yesterday was to the last10 games. The passion has returned and WE WILL NOT GO DOWN. Next season is going to be great with PDC. I gave my season card up at the end of last season and boy do I feel for the fans who have watched garbage this one. No way was I renewing under MON. Am I going to renew now. YOU BET I AM.

Yup, our scouts seem to **** though, only player I can think of is Mig (maybe Sess) that we've got a good deal on.

Fletcher has been good but there is someone out there who would have had the same effect for much less. Not knocking Fletcher at all, mind.

I pray that this summer things change and we follow your example in the transfer market

Top strikers don't come cheap though, whilst I did think you'd overpaid, his initial goals to games ratio was insane...Mig and Sess are great bits of scouting, NDiaye could still come good for £2/£3m? It's just getting more of these boys in instead of reverting to back to the 'premier league experience' types!

Agree with Billy, MoN lost the pride and passion of the Club. There were too many dreadful, soulless matches with players ambling around and totally devoid of ideas; the Swansea home game did it for me, MoN should have walked away after that. Wish him well, (he was a Sunderland supporter after all) but time to move on and hopefully PDC can give us all something to believe in again. KTF FTMs

Yeah, I like N'Diaye reckon he'll be a good buy

MoN never has exploited the foreign market so I guess it's not a surprise he went for the tried and trusted
