I don't agree with you about Clucas. We looked a much better team with him giving us width on the left than we did for the previous hour with Aluko completely failing to do so.
Clucas replaced Robertson, not Aluko. It was an utterly pointless sub; replacing one attacking fullback with another when chasing the game. It was the other side that was more of a problem anyway.
It would have been nice to have had the option to bring Luer on, but he was shunted off the bench so that it could be filled with defenders.
Robertson was knackered. While his crosses may have been poor (although I think Charlton's commitment to blocking crosses at source was exemplary) he at least kept going at it and sparked himself out. It was a perfectly reasonable substitution, amidst a largely feeble performance by team and manager.
I thought it was pretty obvious something needed changing. Just replacing like for like was never going to change anything. If we were playing well it might have made sense. Elmo and Moses were doing absolutely nothing down the right. We could have, for example, put Clucas on the wing, moved Aluko onto the right where cutting inside would have been easier for him, allowed Elmo to overlap beyond him and took the ineffective Odubajo off.
Correct. Not that I saw. He played in an advanced position and filled in at the back where he could. This is descending into DMD/Fez-ism, isn't it?
Whoah, there tiger. You can go too far. Fez waffles on inanely to many people, don't be linking him with me.
That performance was piss poor. I really feel for the poor souls went travelled to watch that shower of ****. We need to attack teams from the off. Brucey get your finger out and earn your money.
Whoever he replaced he played out wide left & gave us far more width than previously & helped to make us look more like an organised team with shape.
