It was way better than Rotherham, Leeds and Preston (and Charlton and Brighton), but we certainly weren't dominant all game.

In fact Junior thought they were so much better in the first half, he placed a bet on Burnley to win and won £15.

And he still didn't pay for the flapjacks on the way home. Kids eh...

At least he should have got the ball away to a safe area not straight to one of their players. Snodgrass in the first half and a similar shot, which frankly he should have scored from, but Heaton saved it but got the ball away to a safe area.

I agree he should have saved it but Bruce always does this. We lose 1-0 really easily and he always blames an individual who made an error leading up to their goal. More importantly Steve we scored nil again and only had a couple of half decent chances.

Shocking afternoon for goalkeeping. Non stop rain/sleet. I would not attach any blame to McGregor, more merit of their larker who was on the spot to pounce.
Lots of people who didn't go see one minute of highlights and think they understand the whole picture.
Ditto the Chubber for Abel change- both scored hat tricks in their last game, both confident and in form. Tiring Abel missed a couple so why not bring Chubber on with 15 mins to go?

Nothing wrong with bringing Akpom on, but it should have been for Diame, Hernandez is far more likely to score than anyone else in our squad.

I agree with your keeper comments, it never stopped pissing it down all game, so I don't blame the keepers for parrying balls they'd normally try and catch.

Disappointing to see Abel slope off and sulkily hurl his gloves to the ground.
Makes a change from hurling himself to the ground I suppose....

Would not argue about that , though Clucas gave Robertson good support down our left and his cross to Abel should have been the assist that created our winning goal .

He did indeed, in fact thought Clucas has a good game.

McGregor spilled it right in front, the very worst position. It wasn't a strong shot so he could have just pushed it to the side. He obviously thought he could gather it. He has to make sure it doesn't just bounce off him there.

If Dawson had pushed out with the rest of the defence Vokes is offside.

I didn't think our defence were that good overall. Every ball they put in our box seemed to cause us big problems. They never got behind us but basic crosses were a massive issue for us.

I wondered in the build up to the goal, they hit a high ball up and it was Dave getting beaten for it. Dawson hanging off. Seemed strange to me, why Dawson didnt go for it.

Not really. McGregor should have pushed the ball wide of the goal. However, that alone did not cost us the game. Hernandez missed 2 sitters in the 2nd half and Snodgrass could and maybe should have done better with his chance in the first half. However, it was a small margins game and Burnley got the bounce on the day. We played well and deserved a point though. Nothing to worry about in this defeat.

    1) Roberston
    2) Davies
    3) Dawson

nb. Davies and Dawson did fine jobs on both Gray and Vokes.
