Midfield and defence were fine. Totally unlucky to have conceded at all but we seriously have to start carrying more of an attacking threat. When we go behind its game over. Hernandez and Diame need to do so much more. Every time Birmingham played a hopeful ball forward, the City reject Donaldson competed and gave our back four a problem every time. Every ball we played forward to the strikers they just couldn't be arsed. Hernandez just isn't interested in any kind of battle. Every ball up to him he does the same thing he's done for two years now; give a ridiculously obvious shove while the defender is preparing to head it, or back out altogether. He's so scared of contesting it fairly he just tries 'sly' fouls which never ever go unnoticed by the ref. He's undroppable because there's always a 'chance' he might nick a goal. Or he might miss his one chance like at Burnley. Either way you can see why Bruce sticks with him. There's **** all else. Huddlestone was playing well but it always seems to be his fault. It was the strikers that needed replacing. Dunno where Akpom was but Diomande didn't do a great deal more than Diame did. I'd give Powell a game up front. He's clearly one of our most effective attacking players and we've got plenty of good midfielders but up front it's the annual shortage where we've spent millions and got **** all yet again. The much maligned Jelavic would never let the defenders have such an easy night like our strikers did. We just lack a striker who puts himself about and gives you the option of a forward pass. People complain about the tippy tappy stuff but last night showed why they do it. Every ball forward came straight back.
Only saw the final 35 mins but from that: 1. Snodgrass 2. Powell (until he was hidden up top) 3. Dawson Dave looked very poor, also Clucas and Diomande. Might not be representative of the whole match but that's what I saw.
