What is called in Political Circles "Too close to call". I couldn't really pick one player over another on this performance. What came across (to me) was the fact that they still have to 'gel' as a team and will need more games together. Hernandez showed that he is what we are looking for up front and should have had two if it weren't for the bar. He looks like a force to be reckoned with but there are better teams than West Ham. The ingredients for the recipe appear to be all there but need mixing correctly before we become formidable. Not a bad performance for the possession we had and a point was a fair result I guess but it was 'two points dropped' for me. Dawson looks the part but I thought Curtis, The Hudd and Livermore all looked a bit sluggish to me. Diame looks like a good investment and when we get it altogether we should hold our own with this team.
Really puzzled by some of the comments on here. Livermore, Thudds and Jelavic were the foot-soldiers of the night, holding key positions but doing nothing spectacular, they didn't need to. Livermore made a number of crucial tackles, he was one of the three players instrumental in building play for the first goal, playing a one-two and drawing two defenders which gave Elmo full opportunity and space to deliver a perfect cross (something we struggled with) that Abel finished with a superb header; at the other end he was just as effective in getting a foot in in very critical tackles. Thud played far deeper than usual and played well, his was a workmanlike performance which, I would imagine, is what his manager wanted. Jelavic was another who did the role asked of him; he ran his legs off for the full period, he got himself into positions where poor crosses let him down and he pulled defenders allowing Abel space and a saving on his legs - utterly selfless football from a fantastic team player. No bad players, just some who did the digging and a couple who made their name. I don't blame Dawson at all for standing off Hernandez for that goal, but you can bet no one else will in the future - if they have any sense - it was a superb strike, job done.
Hernanandez Diame Elmo Robertson mostly excellent apart from howler pass and Dawson commended for great late block.
Diame Abel H Dawson Can't believe how many people have mentioned Robertson, he had his worst game for us last night, was beaten far too many times in defence and his end product going forward was shocking. I like the lad and he looks a prospect but he really didn't have have a good game last night.
