1. Meyler 2. Hernandez 3. Elmohamady Could easily have included several others in a stellar team performance. Special mention to Greegsy for a WORLD CLASS save in what was otherwise a quiet afternoon for him.
It must have been the same bloke that was sat behind me. Right at the start of the game he said he hated Meyler and all the way through just slated him, piss poor ball, can't pass etc etc. Really really got on my nerves. He was just one of those people who cannot watch a game without picking on someone to hate. Even said our goals were poor. It is usually another couple sitting in those seats so maybe this was a relative using the passes and I am bloody hoping he never sits there again.
Hernandez Jelavic Bruce (who was distinctive by his leadership when things got a tad wobbly with injuries)
1. Jelavic 2. Hernandez 3. Elmohamady I have to say, that was a front pairing that made me very excited. One hopes it can only get better. I don't remember Hernandez ever being caught off side unless it was just for being caught when the ball came back a bit fast - the point is he plays off the shoulder of the defender as well as anyone I can recall. A wonderful team effort. Meyler was terrific and certainly better than Livermore and Ramirez and Brady were excellent. One last point - I think we are fortunate to have three attacking players in Jela, Abel and Elmo, who are all pretty good with their head.
Another 'team' effort and another win. Could not pick anyone out for special mention as they all worked together. Hernandez starting to put in a shift which was good to see but will have to improve on his ball control. Good result for us. Worrying about Robertson.
I'm going to count up the results from the games across the Christmas period this afternoon so anyone else who wants to vote on any of them do so before too long! I'll be putting the results on the right game threads in order so you'll know there isn't long if you want to vote in this one!
Result: Hernandez Jelavic Meyler Apart from Robertson every one of our starting 11 got a vote from yesterday, and Brady got one to replace that! Player of the month and table so far to come in the next post.
December Player of the Month: Chester Livermore McGregor Table so far (including Everton): 14: Dawson, Brady, Diame, Jelavic 13: Chester 10: Livermore 9: Robertson 8: Quinn 5: McGregor, Aluko, Elmohamady, Hernandez 4: Bruce, Ben Arfa 3: Ramirez, Davies, Sagbo 2: Jakupovic, Rosenior, Figueroa, McShane 1: Huddlestone, Ince, Meyler 0: Snodgrass, Maguire, Dudgeon, Harper, Lenihan
Brady is surprisingly high (points from cup games?), and Elmo is shockingly low, considering how good he's been. I guess MoM votes don't reward the long-time consistency that he's provided.
And (touch wood) he never gets injured. Despite pretending to be in agony on a fairly regular basis when he wants to influence a ref.
Huddlestone's a bit of a shocker too, I don't want him thinking that he can walk straight back into the first eleven, and perhaps that table is a true refection of why. With his undoubted talent it's quite shocking that he's only had the MOM vote just the once.
If you go on the amount of votes Elmo's had rather than the amount of points he's won then he moves up to seventh. Plus, the only games he hasn't had a vote in that he's played in are: Villa away Liverpool away Man United away Sunderland away I agree Brady is a bit higher than you'd expect, but I do think when he's played he's played well this season. Brady's points have come: 3 v Lokeren at home 2 v West Brom (League Cup) 3 v Liverpool 2 v Southampton 3 v Burnley 1 v Sunderland So he's got 5 from the cups then won 8 in 3 games to move him up the table.
