The key to this debate is referee consistency, which was not present on Saturday. Faye & McKenna deserved to be booked but so did their defender who dragged Stewart back. In this instance, I believe their player was spared a yellow due to Stewart staying on his feet and had Stewart gone down, the defender probably would have been booked. Noone should definitely have received a 2nd yellow
I've done a referees course and your first quoted paragraph is absolute rubbish. Yes, the referee has to use his judgement in certain situations but to suggest that he is "owed a foul" is totally ludicrous. He wasn't sent off as the referee felt that that specific foul was not worthy of a yellow card, either rightly or wrongly.
If anyone else wants to vote on MOM do it before about half 6 tonight, because I'll count up later and post the results tonight.
Listened to the game on Saturday; and by their recollection Koren, Aluko or Dudgeon were MOM... McLean nowhere near the running.
perhaps i worded it wrongly, the point i was trying to make is more or less what you said, that the ref didn't think the foul was worthy of a second yellow but had he done it again then their will have been a yellow card for persistent infringement resulting in a red. This is why i put in the bit in brackets "(as long as it wasn't deserving of a card on its own merit)" Edit: the ref course i did was about 5 years ago and i don't profess to be an expert, it annoys me when joe bloggs thinks he knows more than actual level 1 refs though
After all the crap Brucie took after signing his son I see no one has mentioned how good he was when he came on. For the 10 mins they had to pressure us with constant balls in to the box, he never missed a header. At one stage getting to four in a row as they peppered us. Obviously can't be MOM but deserves some praise.
If you only listened to the game I fail to see how you can comment. I was at the game and nobody, in my opinion, put more effort into the Tiger's cause than Mclean. It was that commitment that gave him my vote.
I've counted up and the result is: Aluko Dudgeon Koren Which means the standings right now are: =1 - Dudgeon, Aluko, Chester (3 points) 4 - Stewart (2 points) 5 - Koren (1 point)
=1 - Dudgeon, Aluko, Chester (3 points) 4 - Stewart (2 points) 5 - Koren (1 point) When I post the result of the match votes I'll post the overall 'table' underneath so everyone can see how it's going as the season progresses.
