Gedo was again superb, as well as scoring the opener he actually looks, constantly, like something that we've missed for a LONG time..........a striker. Even when he's not getting on the end of passes/cosses and sticking the ball in the net his constant intelligent movement creates space for him and his team mates, he must be a defenders worst nightmare!
Elmohamady Meyler Hobbs The whole side had a great game. Evans still lacks that attacking edge for me, there were some opportunities to get it to the wide men or through the middle but he's too reluctant to play the ball (I don't think he's the best of passers anyway really). We're looking solid and as though we could score a goal on every attack. I think with Cardiff slipping up, we have a great chance at maybe stealing the title. It's getting exciting.
you can say that again... oh you have! 3 times in 3 matches Gedo has been right where he needed to be.. is that luck? nope, it's a sign of a top class striker.. very chuffed tonight.
1) Brady or Elmo 2) Meyler - so much work up and down in support of Elmo and for me edged it from Quinn who is starting to look tired on the heavier pitches 3) Chester, Hobbs & Bruce - who could split em (Jordan Who?) Nowt like sitting on the fence, but after such a dominant performance, how come it was only 2 - 0? Not quite as one sided as Leeds, but not far off against a much better team who we made look ordinary.
Brady Quinn Hobbs I thought Brady was amazing tonight, he's been one of our best players lately. The lad's got everything to play in that position, his crossing is quality with both feet, he's lightning quick, strong, tracks back, he's got a good shot on him and he links up with Quinn well. The two crosses for the goals were beautiful balls in. Any cross that sees the attacker facing goal able to shoot with a volley has to be a bloody good ball. Hobbs was a beast in defence, also thought Chester was his usual classy self. The football in general was great, we must have racked up more passes than Barca tonight! The whole team were great really, Stockdale didn't have much to do, Evans had a couple of Evansy moments but was otherwise good and Koren was pretty anonymous again but apart from that everyone was quality really.
The best thing about tonight's performance was the way we totally controlled the game for all but about five or ten minutes early in the first half, which makes it really difficult to pick a top 3 but I'll give it a try: 1. Meyler - Never stopped all game and never gave their midfield a minutes peace but also more quality from him which is probably due to getting his fitness levels up to where they should be. 2. Elmohamady - Always available and again never stopped up and down the right side, with the usual quality of crosses on top of all that. 3. Brady - He and Quinn have such a good understanding and were a thorn down Blackburn's right all night. Just shades his partner by the cross (with his right foot) for the second goal. Also deserving mentions: Hobbs, Chester, Bruce and Stockdale had Rhodes etc in their pockets all night. Evans just kept everything ticking over in midfield, nothing flashy just played it simple. Gedo is going to be some player when he's fully fit if he's this good when he's not. Koren had probably his best performance in his current second striker role and as with Evans a lot of the credit must go to Steve Bruce for resting them both on Saturday, so they would be fresh for tonight. Did I miss anyone out? I don't think so because they all deserve a mention tonight. Against a strong Blackburn team who were on a very good run of form we didn't really let them have a look in! Great night to be a Tiger!
Hobbs Elmo Brady All three were brilliant. Meyler deserves a mention too, he has been a bit lackluster the last few weeks but tonight was a big improvement.
Koren worked like a cart horse tonight, superb runs to create space when on the ball and absolutely fantastic work closing down the opposition and trying to win the ball back. Such great selfless work from him. Think their goalie deserves a mention too, he pulled off 2 very fine reflex saves or else we'd have won 4-0. Sadly the bottom few teams got a couple of results between them do we're still not much closer to being safe.
