Hello, its not a secret that we are in need of a CM, I just think that Modric would be a better buy compared to Sneijder.

The reasons are that

-Modric is Premier League proven,who can gurantee Sneijder can adapt to the EPL. After all he is currently playing in a medicore league right now, where there is less pressure and much more time on the ball. Why did he fail at Real Madrid then? Why did Fergie overlook him when we sold Ronaldo?

-He play's behind the striker which is Rooney's Role, whereas Modric can play deeper.
He probably can play deeper or in a 2 man midfield, but would be as effective if he was to play in his preffered position.

-Modric would have something to prove whereas Sneijder has won almost everything (champions league, world cup final etc)

-I think Modric is a better passer of the ball, which is what we need to keep possesion to control games. Whereas Sneijder would offer more of a attacking threat and score more goals, but we have rooney, chica, berba, nani valencia to do that.

-He's 1 year younger

-Probably cheaper than Sneijder

-Modric will demand less wages
 
im sorry but Modric is a better passer then Wesley????Do you watch Wesley on a regulat basis may i ask?His long range passing is amazing and so is his link up play...i would take him for a swap deal with rooney..seriously rooney is good but wesley in that position is miles better..he can score link up keep the ball and track back to an extent..a great player who we should buy even if it means we should sacrifice rooney...
 
i would take sneijder but he wants to stay at inter, he even said it again.

I think if we go for Modric we can get him because he wants champions league football
 
I'm not convinced by Modric tbh. He sits deep and needs time and space. Basically, he does now what Scholes did at the end of his career because his legs were gone. All well and good against teams that sit off and let you pick passes but when a team harries and presses he tends to get caught in possession. Against Arsenal it happened on numerous occasions yet somehow he was awarded Tottenham's man of the match. He was equally nondescript against Chelsea. Also. because of his deep lying position, he isn't going to increase the number of assists and goals we get from the centre of midfield, which is pretty poor right now. Finally, because he sits deep but doesn't win tackles, it pretty much means that we would need to deploy another deep midfielder alongside him and consequently would probably need to go 4-5-1.

Modric has shown he can play as an attacking playmaker, it's only really this season that Spurs have used him in a withdrawn role as VDV has been playing further up the park. And I think he can cope with being pressed as long as his team mates are finding space - Xavi would get caught in possession all the time if the rest of his team was as static as the Spurs players were at times against Arsenal and Chelsea imo.

Not really..... he's on a long contract at spurs and as stated already that he's happy at spurs and has no intention to leave so it's up to spurs if we want to sell him or not. I know in the past we have sold our top players to you but were a different team/club these days and Redknapp and Levy have already come out and told the fans our stars won't be sold!!! All he said was "if an offer was right for spurs and me then i would consider it but i have no intention of leaving" ....... Well the offer is not right because we want to keep him and Modric is no the type of character to throw a hissy fit!! Modric wont be going to manchester United...
 
Modric or Sneijder, whichever arrives, or if neither arrives, we will still need a more hardened defensive midfieldder to go with him. That won't change so any thoughts on who?
Schweinsteiger for me, although he'll probably prove impossible to sign.

If the other two, I'd prefer Sneijder, never really thought that hightly of Modric, although I think he'd be cheaper and easier to get.
 
modric will be cheaper?? you might want to take a look at our recent dealings with spuds,mate,we've been fleeced time and again.he'll have a 35-40mill price tag,no problem.

of course we cant sneijder so...
 
Good points but United badly need a leader in midfield so De Rossi would be a better option for me

Who said Fergie wasn't interested in him then? I'm sure Sneijder chose Milan as his preferred destiantion before any deal was done.

Sneijder has played in a 2 man mid-field regularly and in a 4-3-3 and wide on either wing. He's versatile, not a one position pony. His range of passing suits his versatility.

I don.t think this is an issue, I don't think any layer will ever feel that they don't have to prove as much or try as hard to win a league or champions league because they've won one before.

I think Modric is maybe better running past players with the ball at his feet, but his passing is not as good as Sneijders, no way. I'm open to people debating that they thik Modric is a better or more suited player for United but he's not a better passer of the ball. Sneijders passing is incredible. People didn't instantly pick him out as Scholes' natural sucessor for nothing, it's because he's one of the very few players that can pass it well enough to even be compared with Scholes' passing ability.

True, the one thing against Sneijder is that he's 27, though at 27 you've still got 6 or more years left in you.

Most likely yes, but personally I'd be happy for an extra £5m to go to Sneijder over Modric. I wouldn't mind Modric, but I'd prefer Sneijder.

Probably true too, and even if he didn't, he'd probably get knocked down a lot easier and more than Sneijder could.

Overall, I like both of these players, but I think Sneijder is more physical and his range of passing is much superior to Modric's. I just think he'd suit playing for United a hell of a lot.
