I suspect, that despite all the fine words about playing for an "ambitious" club, this all comes down to the same old thing that motivates all of them - Money!!
What a little prick. As others have said here and I've said recently, I won't be bothered if he goes, as long as it's not to another English club. The Guardian's version of his statement makes it pretty clear that he's been tapped up too, if there was ever any doubt. "I know that the new Chelsea boss [André Villas-Boas] said he wants me in his team." Really? Is that the boss that's been installed since Chelsea made their sole, rejected bid? How would you know that then?
Yes I am getting very fed up with this whole saga and am beginning not to care if the little upstart is sold or not. If these comments are true then he is disrespecting his employer and club. If he goes it has to be abroad, we cant sell to any other PL club and make them stronger.
Stop all the panicking. Modric never said he wanted to join Chelsea 'the football club'. 'tis true 'cos Ensil said so
The article could be mistranslated or be the Croatian equivilent to "the star". It does anger me and I have lost a lot of respect for Modric because of this, but if it all turns out to be a lot of bull, I think most of us will owe him an apology. I've been critical of him in previous posts, but how uncertain I am of the legitamacy of this report is preventing me from feeling too down about it. As OODB said in a previous post: Which is a very good point.
Because to do so will cost Modric money, he will not get his cut of the transfer fee. Whereas if Spurs agree to a transfer he will. All of which would suggest that he is motivated by the money rather than the glory.
Rought translation: "Chelsea officials have a bad habit of bumping into other clubs' players in hotel lobbies, and I'm one of those. Whatever you do, don;t report this to the FA, UEFA or FIFA, because they'll make mincemeat out of Fulham's second club."
No it wasn't, it was a non-bid, so that they could leak it and Modric could admit his desire to be tappe... I mean, ask for a move.
