Modric was kicked on the shin, which is a foul and a penalty. If he hadnt gone down, no doubt Foylum wouldnt have seen anything like the other 5 penalties we didnt get. Its ridiculous to say Modric is a cheat, in a game where by the referee had blurred vision you cant blame Modric for going to ground when every single other decision is going against his team courtesy of the officials incompetence. Modric was just making sure Foylum saw the kick on his shin. Cheats are players like Suarez, who fall over and feign injury with no contact...... or players that use their hands to stop a goal or deliberately rugby tackle opponents.
Well said Luke, we did enough to win the game, just as we did v Fulham and W'Brom, both games similar to Stoke, bar 2 goals. I wasn't even bothered much by that at HT, the amount of times we did it last season aswell, start poorly, then overturn any deficit 2nd half. Thats why I haven't been on every thread here since bleating about it. I've mocked other teams refereeing misfortunes knowing full well it would be our turn one day, at least its done now.
I think it makes all the difference in the world to us, we could have been title contenders had we won, we didn't and so we aren't. I also think we won't get another chance to get this close this season, and maybe not for another 5 or even 25 years. As a Utd fan you have no idea what it's like to go season after season for a quarter of a century or more without once challenging for the title, as we have done. When a chance comes we have to grasp it, and to have it so cruelly ripped out of our hands is devastating.
The way we came out 2nd half and the way we played shows we have alot of fight in us and we can take alot from that
we could have been title contenders had we won, we didn't and so we aren't. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you serious GH? I'm not sure what you mean by this, do you mean that at the end of the season we will wish we had a point from this game. One game this side of Christmas decides and means nothing. Every team cops a **** game where the officials have a mare, without their contribution a good goal would have stood, we'd have a point and everyone would be happy enough with that, and not writing stuff like this. These are the fine margins that decide football matches. Anyone would think we were going through the season unbeaten! City lost aswell tonight, and they'll be many more surprises between now and May. Oh btw, we're 4th with a game in hand on everyone around us...chin up ffs!
Appreciate that mate and I 100% agree. We showed that in the second half, we can go away and absolutely dominate. Stoke exploited our weaknesses early on but in the end, we barely gave them a sniff to allow them to play their game. On that basis alone gives me massive confidence. As much as the ref did cost us the game, or atleast a point, we need to realise going to the Britannia and winning is hard for ANY team. Granted our recent league record there has been great but losing to Stoke is no disgrace, it's just a shame in the manner of how it happened. I'm still confident of a top 3 finish as I've said many a time this season. I still feel that despite Chelsea's great win today, we have a better team even if it's marginal. The same applies to Arsenal. I'm not discrediting them and saying we'll walk over them for the next decade etc, but this season especially, I believe we're better and I really hope the lads prove me right. I said in the thread I just made, speaking from a neutral perspective, this season has the potential to be the best Prem season ever. Very exciting and each game is a cup final. COYS!!!
