Sorry. Well, hopefully it will all be sorted, soon. I'm a bit torn on this. Half of me wants Levy to stick to his guns and refuse to compromise. But, the other half has lost a lot of respect for Modric. What must the other players think of him after he spat his dummy out and refused to play on Monday? Effectively dumping them, and the club, in the ****, by forcing us to play Livermore, when that was probably a game too soon for him.
i wouldn't blame levy for selling modders. He has to come out and say he's not for sale, regardless of whether he means to in the end or not.
Basically, if the player has had his head turned and his "head isn't in the right place" then what use is he to us? **** all. So we just need to get the best price for him and move on.
This is what it will be like til we can get a new stadium and start competing. We've got to accept that i think

Q7...I think those reports of us wanting players in Jan at those inflated prices was media bullshit. I distinctly remember Harry saying in an interview after the Jan window shut, that there was nothing in the stories linking us to various 'European' players. That statement was quite guarded, not dismissing that we tried to sign English players, but failed/refused to match fees and wages being banded about for those players...which I agree with. So tell your mate that!![]()
I have lost a lot of respect for Rat Face, he is just another greedy mercenary, whatever he says its all about money for him. I dont really care if we sell him or not, but I do care who we sell him to, he has to be sold abroad and not to the vulgar and disgusting Abramovich or any other English team. Refusing to sell to Fulham`s Sugar Daddy FC in particular will be a statement of intent against tapping up and Billionaires and their hobbies. If we must sell to Chelsea then I hope we really take them to the cleaners for £40m plus.
but was there nothing in the stories notso? the same players - I.E Rossi and Vicinic were mentioned in Jan. this summer harry's openly admitted being diappointed in not getting vucinic and also would love to sign rossi. perhaps the quote of "there was nothing in the stories" was because of the total lack of funds we have? - maybe that was to cover up total embarrassment at the club because we'd put in an offer of about 15 mill when they wanted £35mill and we didn't want to let on how far out our estimations were. I'm just so confused of why we're spending NO money now and why we didnt in Jan. paying in excess is one thing, but doing nothing, is the opposite end of the scale which will ultimately cause up to get eaten alive by those who strengthen. it's beyond me.
Its not beyond me SR, as soon as clubs go in for the same player that can pay 90k+, its game over for us. If thats a wage a player and his agent feel he's worth, we're out of it. Its limiting, it really is that simple. Also if one player comes to our club and is suddenly awarded 100k a week, you must realise that the other senior players will be wanting parity, and quite rightly too. Its not about funding one player, it would then cost Spurs 5 times that topping up existing salaries. If they're not given it, they definetly leave.
I agree we've made a rod for our own back now, that will hold us back from competing for top players. Tbh, I wonder how we've got the players we have, the piss poor money (by comparison) we pay.
More importantly, how are we going to keep those players longer term, if we don't pay competitive wages?
Levy can't have it both ways. It's him that's been telling us that the club has the ambition to be a regular contender for honours. Oh really, Danny boy, well how do you plan on doing that on a shoestring, then eh?? It'd be the best trick since five fishes and three loaves.
If Levy means what he's been saying, then he must surely realise that what's been happening with Modric is only the start. Who's next? Bale, VDV, Sandro???

Notso, I agree and I've stated this point about wages in other threads. However there are players that will improve us as well as providing competition for places. Players such as damaio, Ruiz and Marin have all been mentioned. The first two are valued between 12 and 18 mill and won't break our wage cap. My point is that we have got to spend something and have a stab, based on some careful thinking. After last seasons poor strike rate from all our forwards, these two can't do any worse. Ruiz is scoring non stop at the moment and can play as a winger as well as a striker. This gives Aaron Lennon some competition and helps us in an area where we're short. Damaio is getting a lot of attention and after another abysmal performance from pav again tonight, he has got to be worth it for 15-18 mill. That's not a great deal of money in the current market. If we're not going to spend that, well it's back to the question about ambition. I've lost all confidence in pav and agreed with Andy Townsend (for once) in the sense that he doesn't look bothered. Marko Marin could be a bit tougher. If Bremen were to sell, he's going to cost alot, maybe 25mill. but again his wages shouldn't be too much of an issue. ( that's if a previous post I read about him earning 45k p/w is true.)
