I've been a member of 606 for years before changing over to here, but if a moderator is chosen who doesn't do something about gratuitous obsenities then I'll be off to a site that does.
The problem is roker what is gratuitous? One person may find the word bugger, written one in a comment to be gratuitous but someone else will use strong industrial language in every day conversation. The only way to stop all bad language is for a total ban and that would mean the most mild of swear words would be banned and freedom of speach would be gone, dont think any of us want to go back there. I understand what you are saying and honestly believe that some give and take but above all some consideration for other fans and common sense will see us OK. Anyone who just wants to se how many swear words they can get in a sentance can always go over to SMB and leave this forum for the more sensible fans, and Big Chris. Just my opnion.
I've got to be honest I just don't see the need for obsceneties or porn on this site whether in a seperate section or not. The state of the 606 board the last couple of days is a perfect example of what will happen if we start to go too easy on offensive people and just call it banter. I'd like to think that we could have a board where younger fans of our team could earn to interact with other supporters in a mature way helping them become the well rounded supporters of the future. What we don't want is for them to be seeing material that their parents would prefer they didn't see. From my experience on 606 I would suggest Syd, Cest and Gordon Armstrong for the mods. I honestly think you need at least 3. That will allow decent coverage of the day and mean that there is not an unreasonable amount of pressure on any one person when things get hectic. They will also be able to bounce ideas off each other when not sure how to deal with a particular situation. Good luck and thanks to anyone who agrees to do the job.

Totally agree self mod has got to come into it, but I am really pleased for Syd (a guy who pulled his own thread on 606 because a wum who was giving grief over the death of a young footballer); he will get my support even if he is wrong Well done Syd
