Many thanks again to @brb
I would like to think I have learned from the mistakes I made during the last few weeks.

I accept that I over-stepped the mark when I locked Royston's thread about Paul Elliott.
A legitimate subject was closed down by me, which was wrong.

Going forward, while the responsibility for caretaking here is mine I feel there should be no local rules imposed here.
I accept this was the position of @Dick Plumb1 as well, so effectively nothing has changed.

Any subject which a member wishes to discuss should be open for debate. Anyone should be able to begin a thread if they wish, without concern that it will be interfered with. Whether the subject be Charlton Athletic, Football in general, sport, news, politics, leisure... anything.
(the old 'one thread only for politics' rule has gone for good).

As has been pointed out many times, we are all adults. Our common bond is a love for CAFC :emoticon-0152-heart but we are all free thinking individuals with things in life we care passionately about. It was never my job or my right to try to restrict the expression of those cares, and I was wrong to do so.

All I would ask is please try not to let disagreements in debates become personal.
Some subjects are very emotive. But we should all be able to differ - sometimes radically - without losing respect for each other as people.
I will try my best to always remember that.

I hope I can retain, or regain, or gain anew, the trust of members here.
My past mistakes were made only with the intention of protecting this forum.
I hope I won't make new mistakes, or repeat my old ones, even with the same intentions.
Lardy you are our chosen Mod - no hidden agenda, just the voice of reason <hug>

Just thought I would add a few notes about my future postings, especially on non-Charlton & non sporting subjects.

Dick Plumb did point out a few weeks back that I shouldn't really be arguing contentious or political points while still being moderator.
He is right about that.
When it comes to Charlton, football & sport I think I'm OK to express my views just like every other member.
The politics of sport is a bit of a grey area, so I'll be careful in threads like the 'dark side of sport' one.

On non-sporting subjects, I might offer an opinion from time to time, and if other members disagree I'll accept that and not engage in a debate.
Also, I won't personally start any threads on non-sporting subjects, particularly ones of a political nature.
These are guidelines for myself only.
Please everyone else, debate and discuss anything you wish to, in existing threads or new ones if with wish to create them.
Nothing is off limits anymore. All we should try to do is 'play the ball, not the man' as in remain respectful to each other in a personal context.

Evening you orrible lot.

I heard you bullied Nasty Nick and Dick Dastardly off of the forum again <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

Like Carole King and James Taylor, we tried but the chemistry just wasn't right.
Or maybe Carly Simon & Warren Beatty.

Our paths will doubtless cross again before very long...

Dick's back on ITTV, where (to be fair) he will be able to talk football with quite a few fellow members.
If he can tolerate the way Reams runs the place, then good luck to him.
I'm guessing Royston has returned to X (Twitter).

Both are still members here and are always welcome to post, as are all Charlton fans and visitors who come in peace <hug>
