Manchester United are poised to test Tottenham's resolve with a £30m January move for play-maker Luka Modric.

That's right, we'll give our major rival a massive advantage by selling to them our best player for £10 million less than what the Chavs offered us!
<doh>

Epic fail.

I'm afraid that until, and unless, Modric can be tied down to a new contract, then this speculation will continue. I'm sure some of these idiots would still carry on, even if he did sign. I can only assume that Abramovich must have stopped paying The Fail, as they seem to have gone quiet on the subject, for a while now.

The same story was in the The Fail also.Says alot really.

This journo has a splendid record for talking utter ****e...

"7/9/04, Daily Express, Tony Banks, Sven to stick with the old guard for Katowice crunch:

David James will keep his place despite his blunder which handed Austria their equalising goal, meaning Paul Robinson will again have to be satisfied with a place on the substitutes' bench. And there is also no starting role for his Tottenham team-mate Jermain Defoe in attack."

What actually happened the next day on the 8th was...

"What a difference a game makes. There is renewed hope now that England can produce the goods to qualify for the World Cup in 2006. After a disappointing result on Saturday against Austria (a 2-2 draw) England put that match behind them and this time didn't blow their final lead. Paul Robinson replaced David James in the nets, and Jermaine Defoe took Alan Smith's place, as Eriksson's side had a slightly different look to the team fielded four days earlier."

Epic Fail. I wouldn't trust what day he says it is!

Why would Modric even contemplate leaving a resurgent Spurs, that are currently the capitol's number 1 club, for a 3rd rate club that won't be playing CL football next season and will, in all likelihood only have 1 more European game this season.

I'm guessing you are not talking about man utd?

I'd like to think Modric was coming to Utd for £30M- he'd fit in perfectly- but I know it isn't going to happen.

It's not even worth discussing.

Do you reckon you will be in for anyone in Jan?

It's worrying how poor Utd's squad is yet they are still joint top of the PL.

English football is definately on the decline.

SAF is well aware of Levy's stance and ability, having probably raised his own eyesbrows at how he told Chelsea to **** off...and that in the end they did.

Also, his current contract clearly has no early release clause, so the same applies till he signs a new one. :D

Could we not get Berb back? SAF can have GDS or Bentley, or Jenas, or all of them

TBH i can't see Berb fitting in to our current system. The reason Ade's done so well is b/c his work rate is incredible. He holds the ball up superbly, tracks back, drops deep when necessary. Berba would only work in a 4-4-2 b/c he's a lazy sod who doesn't know what 'work rate' means.

As for Jenas and Bentley, i would gladly swap them for a piece of SAF's (chewed) gum.

SAF says not.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's looking though. Vidic is a big loss, Fletcher perhaps less so, but with so many other injuries, there's a lack of numbers and experience in key areas. Evans and Carrick at CB and Gibson and Park in CM may be good enough for Wigan at home, but not City, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea away.

To be fair, Dowd had a top game for you again too. He might need to shift a bit of that Turkey weight if Fergie's going to be able to rely on him though!

I'm not sure that Berbatov is lazy, Helder.
When he's properly motivated, he actually puts in a shift, a little like Adebayor, I suppose.

His performance in our 4-1 win over Bolton at WHL in February 2007 was incredibly hard working.
We went 3-0 up before Keane was dismissed for chesting the ball down in our box.
Bolton scored from the penalty, but the Bulgarian went on to torment them for the rest of the game and we even added to our lead, despite our reduced numbers.
The FA rejected Keane's appeal, too. <doh>

Wouldn't have him back after what he did, though.
He appears to have suddenly found a bit of form, just as his contract's up for renewal.
Funny that.

Webb was busy giving out ridiculous decisions elsewhere though, so it's nice to see that Man Utd's ref squad has a bit of depth.

If we finish 3rd of higher in the EPL, the likes of United and Chelsea will be desperate to unsettle our squad.

I fully expect not only Bale and Moddy to be heavily linked to big money moves away from our great club, but also the likes of Kaboul, Walker, and Scotty.

I hope we get a shift on with building our stadium, and use the CL money to put towards the project. If we don't, I rather fear that it will send all the wrong signals to these players, and we'll struggle to keep them, regardless of whether we manage a top 4 finish next season.

Clubs will be in for Bale, Modric, VDV and the likes no matter where we finish. Finishing top 4 is the only way we'll have a chance of pursuading them to stay but if last summer was anything to go by, we can't expect any help from the media and the clubs will be very aggressive to get their man/weaken us.

I've had some Chav inform me that if we were offered any players in their squad, we'd snap the Russian's hand off.

Such bloody arrogance! Okay, so I'd probably take Sturridge over Defoe, on current form, and I'd probably have Mata in the squad, to see how he fits in with our system and the rest of our squad, but why cannot these Chavs understand that the reason why we are better than they are at the moment is because our current squad are playing better as a unit? Why would anyone expect us to disrupt that?
