Super Brian McBride, take a bow, this was a post from you almost exactly a year ago today.

I must admit that if I was in charge AJ would not survive the chop. As much as he energy and runs the channels he has not helped in the scoring department as much as he should.

At present my shopping list would be

Mladin Petric (Hamburg) to take the place of A.Johnson
El Hamdaoui (Ajax) to take the place of Kamara
Shay Given (Man City) if a Schwarzer leaving
Iziguirre (Celtic) or Pogatetz (Hannover96) for Salcido
N'Zogbia (Wigan) or Alex Kacaniklic for Gera
Oleguer Presas (Ajax) or Phil Bardsley (Sunderland) for Pantsil
Trotta or Dalla Valle for Eddie Johnston

in case of injury to Murphy and give him a rest.
Hitlzsperger (West Ham) or Benayuon ( Loan Chelsea)

    Thank you for that Bandit,

I still think there are some players on that list who could do us a job

Iziguirre from Celtic has just come back from injury at the end of last season and still looked good.
Not sure on El Hamdaoui as he has been frozen out at Ajax last season.
Obviously Kacaniklic has come through and Trotta is knocking on the door.
Still think Benayoun could do a job now Murphy has gone, but he is 32.
And Bardsley could be on the way out at Sunderland as he has been reported to want to leave.

I'm not sure why I thought he was a left back- he's the same guy that scored the freekick in the EL? I've confused (and soiled) myself now.

Iziguirre is good, Kayal has also got a lot of potential and could go on to be a top prem player. It would be worth looking at a few Celtic players, recently they've been buying younger, foreign, players, and developing them.

Anthony Stokes - blimey, a while since I've posted his name. Still believe he'd be a decent squad addition.

Isn't he that striker who was awful for Sunderland?

Upon further research, these are his stats

    Apps (Goals)
    Arsenal 0 (0)
    Falkirk (loan) 16 (14)
    Sunderland 36 (3)
    Sheffield United (loan) 12 (0)
    Crystal Palace (loan) 13 (1)
    Hibernian 40 (22)
    Celtic 63 (26)

He's scored a grand total of FOUR goals in English football from a staggering 61 appearances, 25 of those being in the Championship.
