No not under any circumstance- the lad is regressing. I'm sure there is some stats out there also if you don't believe you're own eyes. He is either constantly injured or constantly thinks he's injured. He'd be of no use to us whatsoever.

I'd have him tbh mate he's better than anything we've got . I understand what you're saying but it's an improvement regardless.

If we are relying on either regularly next season then we'll be back in the Championship the following year. I'm not convinced with them leading the line for us at this level let alone in the Premiership. No matter how terrible the rest of their team is Defoe is by far the best striker in the north-east and has been since he signed, if we can get someone anything like that level we'll be alright next year.

Absolutely

Sturridge for 10 games a season is better than any of our current strikers for the whole season. To stay up you need to win 7 or 8 games (or more hopefully), just play him in the home games against bottom of the table sides, sorted (not a serious suggestion but the only way we'd get a player of that standard is 'with baggage' like injury issues).

No it isn't because he won't make it on the pitch. On paper maybe but football is played on a big green rectangle and he seems adverse to spending time there. A club like us can't afford to spend our wage budget and funds on a sick note. Look at West Ham - every time Carroll is out they look ****e.

Agree but you have to be smart like we were with demba ba. Sturridge is a really poor move. He is losing zip and is burning out quick. Probably the injuries. He doesn't have the capacity to adapt because his game is based entirely on speed and skills in small areas. Take that away and he's cooked. Defoe would be a much better signing even though he is older. Stays fit and guaranteed goals. Game has pretty much remained the same. Cheaper and cheaper wages. I think he has a free transfer clause when the Mackems are relegated

Sturridge is Michael Owen mark II. Stay well clear. I'd go for Defoe. He'll be off in the summer, may be tempted to stay in the North East and will want to play for a better team. He would fit in perfectly with Rafa's system.
