Mitro or Arma?

I don't see the point of Arma going out on loan again.
Another season away and be knocking on 22yo when he returns.
Chances are he'd simply fade away like many others before him.

I'd liken his situation to that of Harry Kane, out on loan for 3 years or so, and then Spurs gave him a squad place in 14/15 and he thrived.
They didn't give up on him, but, there comes a time when its make or break for a young footballer.

Give him a chance in the squad, he may grasp it with both hands.
We've nothing to lose.

As a 20yo at the end of 2017, he wouldn't be taking up one of the 25 man squad places in 17/18.
He's paid a pittance compared to others, so no excuses from the club that he's a drain on resources or preventing a new player coming in.

Fine if you are not relying on him as one of the 4 main strikers otherwise it's too much to expect of him in my opinion and it could cost us if he's not up to the job. If he's striker number 5 unfortunately he won't get a look in and his chances of making it and his career will probably be harmed. I just can't see him being here and getting games and contributing unless he suddenly shows that he's up to Premier League standard which I don't think he's come close to to be honest. If he was doing at Barnsley what he did last season at Coventry then I'd be more inclined to agree with you but he doesn't seem to be clearly ahead of the level that he's at like he was showing he was last season.
 
Trouble with choosing is the fact both are completely different types of forward. Arma more of a no.10, no good whatsoever as a lone striker up top. Mitro is just brute force battering ram.

I haven't watched enough of him at Barnsley in all honesty but I always saw him as a fox in the box number 9 when he appeared for Coventry. It's just that he lacks a bit of height for that role, but then so does Dwight Gayle and he holds his own. A lot of Armstrong's goals seem to come from through balls which he runs onto when the opposition defence has pushed up the field, or quick play when he receives the ball in the box. I'd say he and Mitrovic are both number 9s but they are different types of number 9s which I would agree with you about and both would probably benefit from playing alongside somebody who plays the other's style of football tbh but of course that wouldn't happen under Rafa. The annoying thing when he appeared for Newcastle in the past was that he was played wide or behind a striker - even in pre-season games - and he just looked lost; in my opinion he was never given a chance to play in his best position which is leading the line.

I dont know how you value a football club but if promoted it has all the right features:
- PL scale TV revenues
- good fan attendance numbers regularly filling a large stadium by UK standards
- ok merchandising with growth potential without SD involvement
- only real debt is to Ashley which would be written off as part of purchase
- future stadium naming rights fees once SD gone
- probably reasonable playing staff salary structure
If you are right about the Muslim Billionaire he can rename the stadium Masjid al Haram, add minarets at each corner and ban pork pies and suasage rolls from the food outlets.

No not under any circumstance- the lad is regressing. I'm sure there is some stats out there also if you don't believe you're own eyes. He is either constantly injured or constantly thinks he's injured. He'd be of no use to us whatsoever.
 
Armstrong is more a Benitez type of player. I think he would get chances. As a number 10 or backnup to a number 10 I think there is a role. Whoever the number 10 is we go and pay big money for, they're normally a little fragile.

We have got to give him a shot at some point and I agree with Heed

Surprised people don't see him as a 10. Everything I watched at Coventry he was a little deeper and looked good. England too.

He comes for the ball, yes, but in my opinion he's more off the shoulder/in the box. Very similar to Perez, just tougher and quicker. Neither are a true number 10, though he is a forward with a fair amount of potential. Would be great to see him get a shot, will trust in Benitez as to whether that happens.

The time to give him a shot was this season in my opinion because the step up is going to be harder in the premier league and the stakes higher if he's relied on and doesn't make the grade. I thought he should have been given a chance up front in pre-season and kept on the books. I'd rather have had him playing up front than Gouffran in recent games. He would suit Rafa's style of play in fairness if he was playing at no 9.
