Dunno why you don't just sell Gayle, he owned the Championship, put him up for sale and a club like Wolves would hand you £18-20m no problem.
There seems to be a lot of wishful thinking on this thread. Just to clarify, we are talking about the same Mitrovic that has trouble hitting a barn door?
I find it strange that there is so much faith in a player who has consistently missed far more opportunities than he has put away and is more likely to be carded than score.
Because it would cost us about £45m to get even a like for like replacement for him in the current market, and that ain't happening.
Javier Hernandez cost £16m Gayle's worth £10m to any Prem club but you'd probably get double that from a Championship team.
He'll be on what he's worth, if you don't wanna pay players what they're worth then this is the wrong league for you.
I'd put the wishful thinking down to the odd few on Football forums. In the real world, its a bit different.
Apparently Chelsea may still release Batshuayi if they get the rest of the business done they want to - I hope to hell we're not pinning our hopes on this as a club
Yep wait all the way till the end of the window and miss out on Batshuayi and Kenedy with no alternatives signed. Wouldn't be a Newcastle transfer window otherwise
This is it, MA reneged on starting to pay for the ugly Sports Direct advertising. Effectively affording us to offer better wages. But no, we have no money, he has no money But their isn't a room in his mansion bereft of wallpaper
I think if we had confidence that he would be replaced with a genuine goalscorer then feelings might be different. However, this is a young lad who hasn't really been given a chance with an extended run in a team with players who either create chances or who make the most of his hold up play. He can do it for Serbia but not for us apparently. If we did sign a genuine goalscorer then it would be a case of the king is dead, long live the king. However, its more likely he would be replaced with more averageness, only this time an average player who couldn't care less about the club rather than one who genuinely does care.
