After a disappointing start to the second block, we've had 2 wins on the bounce. Another 3 points would mean another decent block <ok>

    6/12 so far.

win the next one and 9/12 = championship form. 90 point sis about 9.5 points out of 12.

  3. Care to answer this MITO...?

Edit: scrap that, just read on and it appears to have been sorted <ok>

  4. We got ten from twelve in the first block so we're already two points up. Not saying we shouldn't be aiming for eight in each section but that extra two points allows for the inevitable slip up somewhere along the line. Better not to use the insurance points early so a win in the next game is still important. Plus, it would then give us a loss (3pts) spare <ok>

Newcastle, good this week, poor week before - let's hope that their inconsistency continues and they're poor next week against us <ok>

every now and again I pop in here... baffled, read through a few posts and then read one like yours and it all makes sense again.

so if we win against Newcastle we have 3points free rope going into mito's next block ?

  11. Pretty much <ok>

The way I see these blocks of four is it puts things into perspective when we hit a bad patch and allows for people not to get too carried away with any potential bad form (so long as we've kept on target or better previous to the slump)

just go for the title IMO... forget about 4th and being able to drop points as a team. win everything you can up to December and then have something to go for after christmas.

So based on trends if we win at newcastle we will be on the 90 point trendline at 8 games gone.... putting 8 games into context that is 21% of the season over and done with.

Equally if we draw we will be on the 80 point trend line

And if we lose we still be up there hitting the 70 point line

Simply put it's vitally important to just keep picking up points. So onward to Newcastle for one of the geordies absolute favorite matches and the most unpredictable fixutre of the season. We could hammer them, get hammered or scrap a draw. Nobody knows what Newcastle will turn up.

Same here and I did a lot of quantitative analysis during my degrees!!

I just say win the next match - It seems a simplified version of all this <ok>

Although, I must say MITO you're doing a fine job <ok>

Kops 'n' Rodgers check this beauty out

all it says is this; if you lose one then don't panic but go and win the next 3. Champions don't allow bad runs of form where they lose a few on the bounce.

Thats really all. Take the bad result then go out and double your efforts the next day and win.

It also puts to rest any theory about the top 6 games being vital. You can lose very game against say the other 5 (10 games) and still win 28 others. thats an exaggeration of course but the point is to look for the positive reaction from the team. So far we got that after southampton but we must improve on that.

Found a nice stat and I didn't really want to start a new article...

Here are the top flight points after the first 45 games in charge of LFC (all 3 points for a win):

    Kenny Dalglish - 95
    Joe ***an - 85
    Brendan Rodgers - 77
    Bob Paisely - 75
    Kenny Dalglish - 72
    Roy Evans - 71
    Graeme Souness - 69
    Rafa Benitez - 68
    Gerard Houiller - 64
    Bill Shankly - 64
