Well Stoke do have a net spend only third to Man City and Chelsea, so why not?

Then you should also know that a cull is not an effective solution.
However, not on this thread, eh?

The block of four thing is interesting, but I still tend to look at one match at a time. When I'm feeling particularly nerdy, I work out our points average so far and extrapolate that to the end of the season.
That's flawed though, because fortunes can change dramatically at any point- like ours did last season.

Southampton and Palace at home? Has to be 6 points out of that. Sunderland could be a tricky one as they are starting to get nervous with some of these results.

  5. We should be aiming for ten points a block with the expectation of a couple of blips too.

I'm taking a risk here. I don't actually hate real badgers. Just the bouncing twats on here. It's created some outstanding banter on here though.

For now then. Effective or not, death to the ****pigs of decay <ok>

    10 out of 12 is champion's form and you'd end up with 90 points there (9x4=36 games) 9x10 =90

you need 8 out of 12 to get CL... 9 groups of 4 games = 36, 9x8= 72 points with 2 games to spare. thats 2 wins and 2 draws MOST of the time. or 3 wins one loss.

7.5 out of 12 = 9x7.5 = 67.5oints with 2 games left.... 7.5 our of 12 is 2 wins one draw one loss plus change....

when you actually break things down this way you just wonder how for some sides its that hard not to get.

    anyway..................

    Southampton H
    Sunderland A
    Crystal Palace H
    Newcastle A

by all thats holy we should be looking at maybe one top ten side (southampton potentially) and 3 bottom half sides so 8 to 9 out of 12 for me should be achieved.... there is no reason why not bar our own failings

    West Brom H
    Arsenal A
    Fulham H
    Everton A

is far harder. on paper. there are 2 top 6 sides from last year in there and wo teams who historically go for a draw away...

For me we will go some to get 8/12 out of this. I would not be shcoked that this is where we slip off the pace with a 6/12 or even 5/12 performance.

    again

    Hull A
    Norwich H
    West Ham H
    Tottenham A

West ham should be top 10 candidates but are not great. tottenham are top 4. Norwich are drak horses for me. Again 8/12 here

    Cardiff H
    Manchester City A
    Chelsea A
    Hull H

    6/12 prediction

    so thats 20 games and i have predicted 10+9+6+8+6 = 39 points at half way.... thats great....call it 36 out of 19 and hthen x 2 = 72points...

who knows.. the team must perform better but you can see the thing is about FORM not about any one result.

  9. I did say aim for ten points per group, I didn't should we should get them. I also said we should expect a couple of blips along the way, this could mean picking up just as little as a single point from one block. All teams have a bad patch during a season, its how they deal with it and whether they can keep it to just the one patch.

ok, i get you... aim is an excellent word... unless you are tobes who will go form financial accountant to barrister just to be pedantic about one word for the sake of it.

    Hi tobes <ok>

Blips are all part of the game... the best sides don't let a blip become a run. they go back to winning next day out and never end up taking 4 from 12 points or some such. 1/12 is basically going to rule out any of the top 6 form the title race... no question.

I'm willing to bet that any of the last champions right back to utd in 09 didn't have that bad a period. I would say 5-6 point out of 12 is the lowest anyone went.

89,89,80,86,90 are points that won it in the last 5 years.. 3/5 are bascially 10 out of 12. 8.5/12 was lowest (rounding to one place of decimals)

how fun this is avoiding any work.

  12. I'm pretty sure there will be sides that have picked up less than three points over four games

It means we need to keep picking up points because our harder fixtures come just after the mid-season.

    MITO,

    This.Thread.Is.Awesome.

It really helps me anyone to chart and track progress and stops my pessimistic and catastrophic everything's ruined after a couple of bad results side keep in check.

8pts from blocks of 4 games really is a good way to judge things until we get to the business end of the season when things become obvious.

One other thing I've noted from MITOs first chart with the fixtures is that, in the main, we play most of the teams above us away first meaning that in the 2nd, business half of the season we play the best teams at home which hopefully with our crowd will helps us get the positive results we need.
