yup... its must win now. city are on a run of championship form. their away from is now officially title winning.

spurs are on a big run of form... since we got avb the ack they've won 4 and drew one... but lost in the fa cup away to arsenal.

everton are on a good run arring the one blip they've won 4, drawn one and lost that one v sunderland in the last 6... (drew at stoke)

Utd don't count

SO if we want even 4th we have to start picking up a lot more than 7 points out of 12. its time for a run... time for wins for the next month.... even tif that does include the rivals.

I like this thread. As disappointing has yesterday's result and the first half performance was, it's still a pint more than we got in that fixture last season, so themselves progress for you. Good to see us put up some fight from 2 down too.

 

Tell you what, we are gonna be so p!ssed if we stay bang on this line and CL qualification is 75 points

 

I'd have taken 74pts before the season started and probably still would now.

 

I would be happy with 74 points too, it still would hack me off , it would just be one of those things,
It would be like qualifying for CL only for rivals to win CL and finish 5th.
Think i am one of those who wasnt as mad we drew yesterday, seen a couple who think like me. Obviously i not pleased with draw but considering how match went not all bad.

 

Yep, would be more annoying if we got top four but Man Utd somehow manage to win the CL!

 

reality check needed. we did it to ourselves, villa aint good but we played into their hands cos they play the same way all the time with those personnel. 2 in midfield v 3 = crazy.

In the end all this does is prove we are off the pace of a title which is exactly what our data has told us all year.. but it should slo tell us that we need to buck up a few things and get things right.

in the end this thread says one thing.... react. we simply must react to it and win the next 2.. not as easy as it sounds but there you go. react and get back on track os thats what a good side has to do.

City for the title (nothing new) I fancy arsenal for 2nd and an unimpressive deep sitting chelsea for 3rd... Utd... i am not looking forward to competing with them for 4th but we need to face reality of whats going t o happen come april/may. 4 teams will fight for one spot.

Grand scheme of things is this thread is there to stop us going all mental after 1 result by batching them up in 4's. Yes it wasn't ideal, but we win the next 2 games and we've taken 10 points from that batch of 4 as well as taking 3 points from a direct rival.

Yes would have been nice to have taken 12/12 but if we take 10 points from each block of 4 from now on then it should be enough to get us 4th place at the minimum

 

its not the f'n end of a block.....

If we take 10 great. if we take 7? hmmm a big trend is emerging that say we are top 6 not top 4.. not far of but we need to be hiting 7-8 points a block not 6-7.

anyway.

I see a gap now. top 3 to fight for 1,2,3 and next 4 fighting for 4th. spurs are back in it and looking better for it, has to go wrong right? hmmm... everton are right in it and utd are after all only 6 points down... we were on about why not make up 6 points to frst.. utd are in it.

4th will be a dog fight and it will be 70 +/- 3points for the spot.

 

we need to average minimum 2 points a game (so 8 from the block), which is what we had been doing all season. We do that and I think we will get top 4. Our villa result has slid us down to a 1.95 average which isn't good enough

 

yes 7.37 points per block = 70 points.

we've done

10, 7, 7, 9, 6... that is 7.8 or 74 points.

the fact is we need to also kick on cos there are a few blocks where 6 is more than possible despite us thinking hime games are ours to win it seems.

 

Of course, winning some of those homes games will also mean an opponent getting less points too.

We'll easily make the eight points per block if we win then

 

if we only win the home games left we can get 67 points.

our homes games include tottenahm and everton.. ignore city and chaski they are not going for the title... maybe arsenal might slip back a bit for 3rd maybe not.. again not really looking at them.

Bitters and spuds.. must win games. then win every single other game v bottom half teams.

now come on... that 9 games to win for sure + 2 games we need to win... = 33 points.. add that to 43 in the bag? 76 points and CL.

simple as. forget utd, forget newcastle forget city forget chelsea lose them f'n all for all i care but win those 9 games... every team can beat us frankly the way we defend so the work rate has to be 100% and the tactics left alone. 4-3-3 get it to f'n suarez... pack the middle....

this is the road map to CL. no question in my mind. win against the bottom half teams... I can tell you now hand on heart no matter how much of a joke is made of utd they WILL beat the lower half teams they have coming up

 

I'm willing to bet a whole pound right now that we don't win all nine

 

whether or not you want to bet on it it should be our objective.... focus... intent... they are all hard games par se but get it to f'n suarez...

in the end focusing on beating utd away while we throw 3 points away in a game at say cardiff is pointless.

those 9 games are the secret to our season. not games against the top teams.

 

I'll bet a whole pound we get at least two points from the Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Newcastle games to make up for some dropped points
