  5. So, seven points from block two. That represents a very slight blip but its just as well we were two points up from the first block.

Still got 1 bonus point going into the next block.

Next 4 games have tricky trips to Arsenal & Everton 7 or 8 points from this next group would be very good, especially if some of those come against Arsenal.

Don't think there is much difference. Arsenal & Everton on current form away from home will be just as tough if not tougher than City & Chelsea away from home.

West Brom (H), Arsenal (A), Fulham (H), Everton (A). Now without being captain obvious, we can't accept anything less than 2 home wins.. Would be great to knick a win at the Emirates or Goodison, but first and foremost win your home games, take what you can away.

  10. The games are closer together because of the festive period and puts a strain on squad depth. Teams like Man City and Chelsea have squads to cope with it. Worst time to play the top sides IMO

Or look at it on the other hand, get on a good run and momentum can take you through with games so close where other teams are chopping and changing their team.

  12. Man City and Chelsea do that all year <laugh>

    Fair point though <ok>

Both "blocks" looks tricky with away games though.

Also noticed how we play all last season top 6 away from home in the first half of the season apart from United - should make the run in slightly easier being at home

Bad news: we are now only 2 points better off than last season in terms of the same fixtures.

Good news: these fixtures were not where we lost too many points anyway so being par still leaves us lots of room for improvement in the fixtures where we did drop lots of points.

Correct me if I'm wrong but won't we now finish the weekend in third? Still in a good position, I don't think we can drop any lower regardless of fixtures coming up this weekend.

Yes, if City & Spurs both win then they'll be on 16, 1 point behind us. Means be 3 points covering top 5

    Ah, not bad.

So far we've only had one disastrous result (Southampton), but points away to Swansea and Newcastle aren't to be sniffed at, we could of easily lost both fixtures. West Brom at home is a massively important game, if we win it keeps us right up there going to Arsenal, but right now we need a performance, we certainly haven't reached the levels of late last season.

That is encouraging. When you think how poor we've been in some games and how we haven't been able to play a settled defence and Coutinho/Sturridge/Suarez in the same team yet, who would have taken 3rd in the table, 2 points off the top after 8 games?!
