Say what you will about our Joey, he'd be bossing the midfield today....

Such a shame he lost his cool at Hull.

I do think we would have got some points from the last 4 games had he been playing, I believe we were relegated weeks ago but these last 4 games were the nail in the coffin for me and probably the most expensive sending off we have ever known!!

I always think we are a stronger team when he plays. Would rather him in the team than out of it.

I'm not convinced because it's academic really. Whether we are stronger with him or not and whether he plays or not the confidence will always ooze out of the team when we defend so abysmally. We reverted back to our early season away performances once we'd gone behind. I have continued to watch each replay of the first goal. In fairness to Furlong, the reason he was so far across in the first place is that Caulker had disappeared. In fact where was he? Spot the missing defender when the ball was crossed in. He is nowhere to be seen. It is difficult for an inexperienced young full back to know where he should be when he has two players to mark because his captain has gone walk about. Why was he made captain for the day? He does not command the defence, marshall the line or lead by example.

The second half was better partly because Clint Hill took command and Palace opted to keep what they had. I really do hope Ramsey is given a chance to build next season but it's going to be difficult to get out of this mindset we are in now. I'd like to see Clint Hill taken on to coach and develop the defence. Caulker won't hang around. I won't be sorry to see him depart. Apparently he is good enough to be on the fringe of the national team. If so, heaven help us. We have the makings of a good set of young defenders who have been given a chance when it is probably too late. The chickens are now home and roosting however regarding short-term signings of players about to hang up their boots.

Joey hasn't played as well this season as last, but he's hardly alone in that and he has got the character for a relegation scrap. Whatever we think about his behaviour against Man City in that match, we fought to the end that season. When he was at Marseille, we gave up by March.

i still think we've actually got an ok squad but neither HR nor CR has struck on the right players formation or tactics for more than about 20 minutes.

Sorry, that's rubbish. Our defence is appalling, otherwise why are we conceding so many laughable goals? None of our full-backs can defend and our centre backs never seem to be in tune with each other. Every game we actually look competitive in ends up with a schoolboy howler or two costing us goals that are decisive. That's why we're on our way down...

Defensively we have been appalling. But I think CR should try and stick with the same back 4 at least as long as have a chance of staying up.
